Syd and the Floyd

How do you think the Floyd would have turned out as a band, if Syd had stayed with' em? How would their music evolve, jugding on their first songs? (But having Syd conscious, out of drugs and stuff)

What would have happened if a comet never hit the earth and dinosaurs still roamed the world? I see where you're going vaguely, but this is all crazy speculation, there is no way to tell. There really isn't even any way to make an educated guess.

I'LL make an uneducated guess. They would have been giants, tho innerturmoil still would have forced them to go their seperate ways.
And never mentioned it seems--Not just the LSD he was fed constantly has dumped him where he is, but the lack of sleep and lack of nutrition in those days.

My point of view, that made me put up this thread, is that Syd had a different music style that the one the Floyd ended up with (That someone can see from his later on solo career). The most obvious example is See Emily Play and Arnold Layne, which is "happy" in music and beat etc... in comparison with the music produced -when the band matured- but after Syd had leaft. So having that in mind, how do you think the music style would have turned out to be?

I think that they wouldn't have survived in the 70's. Syd's departure was a big inspiration for the band when writing Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and probably The Wall. I think they certianly wouldn't have become the superstars they would have, and just dissappeared into the bowels of rock history. They probably had gone more poppish, as that was the direction Syd was kinda going in. There wouldn't be any 20 minute epics, just some albums of quirky 3-minute ditties and maybe a 10-minute jam of some sort.

I think that they could have turned out in a sence of psyhedelia, using all the elecronic equipment and their instruments, like in Saucer Full Of Secrets or in On The Run. They could have remained at the 60's style and be lost like alot of other bands did.
But producing this kind of mature and "different" music they managed to stay in history with big gold shiny letters: PINK FLOYD!!
