bin tryin' to remember for years now

There is a song........from an early album..........I seem to remember that it was an instrumental but I might be wrong. The boys played it at every concert at BC Place stadium here in Vancouver and what a job they do. David "bends" the notes so far off of the original it is just short of painful to hear.......and therefore hauntingly beautiful. Who can tell me please what is the title?

If the song was really long, it could be Echoes, off the Meddle album.

Nope it's not echoes......Loooooooog guitar riff Another hint is the lightshow. They use the "gold" lasers more in this song than any other...Kind of gridlike in the air. It ends with the lasers stopping all motion except for one that just "quivers" They did it the same way at every show.(First time I saw it I thought it was a hardware glitch)

In what year did you see the BC Place Stadium shows?

That may help us narrow it down..

If it was a "early album" then that would disqualify anything off of AMLOR.

Well, considering that he mentioned lasers, it probably couldn't have been anything earlier than AMLOR, as I don't think they used lasers on earlier tours.

Nope not from AMLOR.....Early early song I USED to know the title I've just forgotten. They played this song (and used the above mentioned laser show pattern) in ALL of their Vancouver shows except for the 1975 show at Exhibition Park. AKA all shows in BC place...without exception. Let me re-iterate David "Bends" the notes sooooooo far that the song is almost unrecognizable. Very very distinctive (and lovely). I strongly suspect it is a normal part of almost all of their shows because of the fact that the laser display has been EXACTLY the same for over a decade.

Basically you are asking us to name every song pre-1975.

I am asking if anybody recognizes what song this is based on a description of how it is always performed. It is VERY VERY DISTINCTIVE it is the ONLY song they ALWAYS perform with the tune severely "bent" this way. I really thought someone would recognize it as described instantly. (I am very surprised that some fan who has seen many shows hasn't already got it)

Perhaps then, if no one seems to be able to recognize the song title by your description, you could go check out the track lists for their albums right here on this site. If you used to know it, maybe if you saw it again it would ring a bell.

According to the book Pink Floyd: In The Flesh by Glenn Povey and Ian Russell, Pink Floyd only visited BC Place Stadium in 1994 for two shows. According to the setlists in the book, both Astronomy Domine and One Of These Days were played on both nights, these were the only "early" songs (barring DSotM material) that they performed on this tour.

You say that the laser display has been the same for over a decade, and what I gather from that is you also saw them in 1987 at Pacific National Exhibition Coliseum where they also played OOTD.

So I guess the song you're talking about is One Of These Days.

The book is quite wrong. The PNE Coliseum was not open for business in 1987 it was empty and forlorn....They played there in 1975. (I was there) They played twice in 94 at BC place that much is true but they also played there in 'prox 92 (I was there) and in 87 (once again I was there). The song I am thinking of isn't One Of These Days **sigh** tell u what I'll just go through Saucer and Piper and find it myself....Its on one or the other.....Thanx anyway guys
