I'd have a hard time equating a lot of PF material directly to Clarke, but I do think that they drew a lot of inspiration and direction from classic Sci-Fi. Many of the scenes in The Wall (movie) I find very reminiscent of Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451", Aldus Huxley's "Brave New World" and Orwell's "1984".

I heard 1984 is a really good movie. I should rent it sometime. It's at my school library for some strange reason, amidst mountains of insanely boring science videos.

You lucky! I'd love to see it, because I really love the book and I've heard the movie is really good. Just like with Catch-22.

Catch-22 movie is very nice. Not the typical Hollywood adaptation where Yossarian would fight in Vietnam or Korea and marry Nately's tramp at the end.

Anyway, "Childhood's End" , which I have not read, is both a Clarke book and, uh I'm sure no one knew thies, a Pink Floyd song. What I was wondering is if anyone has an in depth knowledge of Clarke's many books and if they are influential on some of the themes. I know this is random and trivial but I find this stuff interesting.
Well, I just recently finished reading Childhood's End, and I do believe there is a connection between the book and the song. It's hard to explain to someone who hasn't read the book. But I definatly recommend Childhood's End (the book) to anyone who likes a good read! It's fairly short, and only took me 4 days.
