That's cool your friends with _Archer, Yoav's a good guy.

Too bad nobody here lives near me! We'd stay up all night discussing which Floyd member's hair looked better in the 70's!

Don't Worry Pat, I'll EMail your Barber/hairdresser and have him discuss it with ya

But atleast you're already playing in a band, While I'm doomed to play in solitary Most of the time, playing much less progressive pieces than you...

Actualy, we sat last Wednesday, Me and "Purple Mushroom", and listened to most of the "Atom Heart Mother goes on the road" Bootleg. Than we saw Episode IV "A new Hope"
From starwars on my VCR. It's probably the 100th and something time I see it, But If I Don't see it too often, I still enjoy it, and Indeed I didn't see it for a while until last Wednesday, so although I knew by heart everything that was gonna happen, I enjoyed it.

Back to Atom Heart Mother Live, The version on this Bootleg is really Excellent, except for that here and there, the trumpets sounds very strong so you have to listen more carefully than the studio version in order
to hear the keyboards, but It's still an awsome version, and as my friend Said when I told him at the end "listen to the cheering",
he said "That's nothing in compare to the greatness of the composition?".
I was happy To see He could accept it at a first listen, cause when I first heard it from the Album, It took me 3 or 4 listens before I could realy enjoy and appreciate this great work of art.

Who do you think composed the main theme? Rick Wright, but then he was ripped off by John Williams. Just like Dave was ripped off by Roger on Animals. Or so one of you people says.

I love AHM, but I wonder how the live version sounds like... and how long is it?

There's one that sounds like it has orchestration, and it lasts just about the studio version, while there is one without the orcherstra, that lasts for about 16-17 minutes.
as you can imagine, the previous is better.

Hope that answers your question.

i have a version that is 30 mins long. its weird because you hear it and it doesn't seem like a half hour has just passed. its on the "Live in Montreaux" bootleg. It has full orchestra and everything. There is also another good version that was done for the BBC that is about 15 mins. but it only has the band.

I have been listening to a RoIO live version of AHM Suite from a gig in Rome in 1971. The Geesin fanfare is omitted, and so was the use of an outside choir and many of the sound effects. The boys did all their own singing, and it sounds great. (ala Celestial Voices) from ASOS. And there is a lot more great guitar work on it than on the studio version. It's too bad they did not do an official release of one of these early 70's live shows, like they did later on with ITAOT. With high quality recording and mixing instead of just the bootlegger's microphone, it would have been truely mindblowing.
