Re: Amusing ourselves to death

Amused to Death, I think, is the best album put out by a former Floyd. Regarding Roger's stuff, it's not as abstract and pretentious as Radio KAOS, and it's not as faux poetic and sentimental as Pros & Cons.

Well, that's my two cents, let me know what you think.

Re: Amusing ourselves to death

As I said in an earlier post on this topic, ATD is not only the best solo work by any of the band, it rates alongside the best Pink Floyd material.

Roger Waters has said he is proud of ATD and I can understand why. Surely some of the best lyrics he has written are in this piece. I was disappointed he did not tour it when it was released but he did perform a number of tracks "In The Flesh" which were great.

I'm having trouble understanding why ATD is not an essential part of the collection of everyone who uses these forums. Perhaps Charade "The Moderator" I Am would care to enlighten me....?

Re: Amusing ourselves to death

I would first like to say that I don't have a problem with straying from the subject. sometimes its just agravating to go through a few pages of posts just to find that no one seems to care about the topic (which I know is not the case). There just seems to be alot of sifting needing to be done. "sifting" is that a word? now i'm being a hypocrite. indeed.
anyway, i wanted to comment on an earlier post about "pros and cons" i agree it is poetic and almost cumbersome at first but I have come to love its miserable tone. i love blaring it when im upset because it reinforces my mood but by also brings it around in the end (to a degree). The song "pros and cons" seems a little out of place but also complies with how abstract the album is (or seems to me to be). Maybe i should have made a new topic for this..... In the waters solo section of course

Re: Amusing ourselves to death

Yes you probably should have, but it's all cool.

And Pink Pig, please realize that is your opinion. Also, you probably know that to obtain "Amused to Death" you need to have 1. A form or "money" 2. something to Barter 3. a reliable connection to "download" it 4. some sort of connection where someone would burn it for you.

I have neither 1 through 3, and i believe burning isn't a good idea when it comes to Floyd - i'd much rather have an original.

Are you enlightened?

I am shocked to hear a comment like that in a respectable forum like this. But, maybe that's why Charade's going to be gone for a while...

I may not have Amused to Death, but that doesn't mean I don't want it. There are a lot of albums I want to buy, but I can't afford to buy them all when I want. So I need to buy one at a time, and Pink Floyd comes first.

Re: Amusing ourselves to death

Yes, I understand. I'd mistakenly thought people had not bought ATD for some other reason (such as not branded Pink Floyd or not recognising Roger Waters' contribution).

As for selling the body, it can work but depends if you want to be able to buy the CD this year or not.

Radiochair, wow, I didn't know I could be so shocking that you'd have to repeat yourself three times!
