Re: Guitar Forum

I dont care about the colour no more. I have grown up
But black and yellow pickguard wont be a problem with the deluxe.
(706) Black with Alder Body . Isnt that standard black?
And if i want the yellow pickguard i just buy that too..as an extra.
I am probably going to Oslo in the future anyway. Maybe to see yes, maybe to see my family there. So then i can stop by the shop and try different guitars. Like my needs are only that i can play floyd and all sorts of music, and that the guitar feels good.
Isnt fender the thing then?

Re: Guitar Forum

I dont think i can buy that one. Its not enough time for me to make up my mind. But the deluxe isnt a problem i think, not with the colours anyway. Cause i want black with yellow pickguard, and that i can get easy. I think...havent got an answer yet.

Re: Guitar Forum

Definitely get the American Deluxe then. It's worth the extra money. Alder body is a good choice. I'm sure the black is indeed like Dave/Pompeii. If it were "transparent" black, it would say so.
Get a bronze or gold pickguard, plug in, and you are in business.

Re: Guitar Forum

You stratguys. Is the squire like the american strat? I mean not the sound and that stuff, but the wood and so on. And what size on the strings?

Re: Guitar Forum

The Squire is like the American Strat, but the wood is not top quality Alder or ash, but often a plywood. One problem with this is that small micro-cracks develop in the finish that can be seen when the light reflection is right. But sound-wise, it would take a better ear than mine to tell the difference outright. The finish and workmanship is generally not as good on a Squire. I noticed on mine the frets were poorly finished. Had to file them down myself in order not to tear my fingers.

Strings: I'd start with the fairly light .010's. (.010 .013 .017 .026 .036 .046) Nickel plated or stainless.

Re: Guitar Forum

Everything Stratman said is true. I prefer stainless strings myself, they seem to last longer for me.. I recently tried flatwounds on my strat.. quite a different sound and feel, especially on slides.. Kinda like 'em though..

Re: Guitar Forum

Yeah. With flatwounds you don't get finger noise like with the roundwound.

Re: Guitar Forum

Well i like playing on my squire. But that is not totaly correct cause i dont feel too comfortabel sliding my hand or making the riffs. I dont like the frets, i think their poorly done and it feels wrong. So i started to get very afraid that i would just buy the same guitar with good sound..

Re: Guitar Forum

Huge difference between Fender and Squire...although Fender licences Squires to build copies that doesn't mean that they're duplicates there are huge differences in the quality of the hardware(tuners, bridge, pick-ups and such and also the finish work (and I'm not talking paint!) neck fit, inlays, nut material and fret finishing come to mind, although both guitars might have alder bodies the grade of wood used on the Fender D'lux will be graded AA or better and so on, if ya get my drift.

My friend has a Squire 25th Anniversary Strat, nice guitar good paint and the sound is decent but I find it near to unplayable compared to my 88 AmStd Strat and nowhere near my '68 Telly

hope this sheds some light, and again good luck with your search
