| question about song I'm a new Pink Floyd fan. I don't know a lot about them. A while back, I basically only knew "Another Brick In The Wall". Then one day, I heard Comfortably Numb on the radio. I loved it and figured out it was by Pink Floyd. So, I went and bought Pulse and like a lot of the songs on there. Been listening to that CD for awhile now. The other day, I was in my car listening to a classic rock radio station. A song came on. It sounded very much like What Do You Want From Me (but not the same version I've been hearing). I never heard any singing....just music. But that may have been because I had to get out of my car before the song was over. When I came back to my car, the music was just going off. However, I know Pink Floyd has a lot of long songs with long segments of music before and after the singing. So, I'm wondering if they might have another version of that song (like they have three different parts to Another Brick In The Wall). Like I said, it seemed to have the basic tune of What Do You Want From Me but the instruments sounded a little different. Or, maybe some other group has recorded that song, too. Anyway, I thought maybe someone here could tell me? Thanks! |

| It might be Have a Cigar. I think it sounds kinda like What Do You Want From Me, and it does have a few minutes of music before the vocals come in. It's on the Wish You Were Here album, which I highly recommend anyway. |

| That was probably Raise My Rent, from David Gilmour's self-titled album (1978) which has a very similar guitar intro (it's actually almost the same at the very beginning) and it is an instrumental. I believe David Gilmour reworked that original intro as a starting point and then with Rick Wright added the new musical elements of What Do You Want From Me. | Just wanted to say thanks for your replies. I went to CD Universe and listened to a sample of both songs. I think the song I heard was "Have A Cigar". Although "Raise My Rent" also sounds very much like "What Do You Want From Me". Now I know more good songs to listen to. Thanks again for your help. |
