I was watching Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii and I noticed a lot of errors occuring through out the film.
First of all why in the hell is the credits in FRENCH. I know it was made by the French but they didn't dub or even sub-title the rest of the film (which isn't a bad thing).
ECHOES
If you listen very closely at the begining of Echoes, Rick Wright is playing the Piano BUT you can hear his Organ in the background. I always though it might be Roger Waters, but you can see him play his Bass.
Notice one minute were Nick Mason is wearing sunglasses and the next minute they're gone and back on again.
CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE....
SET THE CONTROLS......
My own personal opinion they did these in the studio. Looks like Rick shaved his beard off sometime during the trip eh!!!!! Those big lights in the background makes it look like a studio atmosphere. How can they get power when there is no sun!!!! A lot of the close up shots were all four are in one shot, must of been a second take. Sometimes whatever they are playing doesn't match what we hear (especially with the drums)
A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS
Shot at two different times of the day. Either at sunset (which is my best guess) and in the middle of the day. How do I know this....look at the sun direction on each shot. Notice where Ricks piano is when he is banging on the keys and then look where it is when he starts to play the Hammond Organ.
The fake wind effects are not present in the complete band shots with all four.

About Echoes, that's not Ricks organ you hear in the background when Rick is playing the piano, its Dave's slide guitar, which he is clearly playing.

and what does the sun have to do with power? Do you think the floyd's gear was solar powered or something? Im sure they just use generators.

in the beginning of echoes you can see that roger is over by where rick is and as the camera gets closer he moves over tho where his bass is and puts it on and starts playing. one thing i noticed that may or may not have been an error is during the "celestial voices" part of a "saucerful of secrets". in the shot of dave singing there is hair in his face and then when it shows the whole band in one shot there is not hair in his face and then back to him with hair in his face. it does this a couple of times. i could be wrong about it though.

Anonymous is right about Rick's Organ at the beginning of "Echoes". It is very faint in the background, you need a Hi-Fi VCR in order to hear it and I am sure that I can hear it. He is also right the Floyd using solar energy for that show. If you look around the theatre at the beginning of the film, you'll notices solar panels. What these are used for I don't exactly know????

Hey cool!!! you can hear Rick's Organ in the background. If you listen very hard over the Piano and Slide Guitar you can hear it. It's just before Rick switches from the Piano to the Organ. I have noticed other mistakes as well.

BTW, during the studio bits on "Pompeii", the lead that Dave's playing over "Brain Damage" doesn't show up on the album

Too bad, I think it's (short, but) an excellent addition to the song...

This is off topic, but I wonder if the band would even consiter releasing some of the outtakes from Dark Side..., Wish You.., or even Animals. The outtakes in Pompeii are classic and show the structure behind Pink Floyd's music.

I doubt that Floyd used those solar panels to power their equipment. Solar power is still quite inefficient, and was probably even less so then. Most likely the panels were for show only. Also the rest of the mistakes are probably due to editing mistakes, the producers probably took take after take of them playing since their was no audience to boo them.

I agree with Not Now John, the film was poorly edited. The "boys", as they always do, probably wanted to make sure the music was at its best. It was also the last time they performed "A Saucerful.., Set The Controls..., (Seamus) Mme Knobs. You can't really hold it against the Floyd because in the end they performed all the songs, film or not!!!

Just a little comment, here...
Who cares how well the film was edited? Floyd weren't filmmakers, they were musicians. It seems we're all in agreement that the music in the film is great, and the lousy editing served to take the best parts of each take, etc.
All in all, it's just another great Floyd video (far too few of those)

Percieve, that was my point. Who cares about the mistakes, it was the editor's fault not Floyd's so forget about it. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my other post.

i don't think anybody said that the bad editing was Pink Floyd's fault. and i don't think anybody said they liked them less because of it. they were just saying something that was on their mind.

All well and good, but what humanly inaudible sound were they producing to make that poor dog yelp and howl for their rendition of Seamus?

Hateful animal abusers  J/K

"And the wind cried, Mary."

Floyd on!
