Coldplay

I've grown to love these guys.. I didn't at first cos Yellow just got killed by the radio and I didn't wanna know anything about them nor hear anything by them cos I got so sick of it. However upon listening to A Rush of Blood to the Head I have become a huge fan and they're the best thing to come out of England since Radiohead, IMO..
I got their live DVD for christmas and am now even more impressed. How rare it is to find a piano driven band these days and these guys know exactly how to use it to their advantage. The lyrics are also quite impressive..

what does everyone else think?

cheers

Never liked them. They sound too boring to me. However, I do kinda enjoy "God Put A Smile..."

I bought A Rush of Blood to the Head a few days ago, and I like it. The singles are the best stuff on there, though. (The dreaded 'album track' thing.)

I really like Coldplay, or at least I've liked everything I've heard from them. I just get kinda tired of their songs that get over-played.. That's why I like their song Moses..

They're ok, I've got both their albums and while the first one is pretty good I much prefer the second. I'm not sure about them live though, they always seem to come over as a bit weak and wishy washy to me.

Based on praise for them I've read here, I've checked out a few of their songs, and of course I've heard some on the radio. I really wanted to like them - I'm always thrilled to find a new favorite band, and I've found some incredible recommendations here, but Coldplay just doesn't do much for me.

I actually really like them live... I don't get the wishy washy impression. But I think that without Chris Martin they wouldn't be all that much live.
DFF: that is one of my favourite songs, I love the part where he says
Where do we go nobody knows
Don't ever say you're on your way down
When, God gave you style and gave you grace
God put a smile upon your face

I think it's one of those really cool positive songs that they do.

BrockB: I could not agree more.. their stuff gets so overplayed. Yellow which is essentially a great song just got killed..

cheers

I've only seen them live on the telly (Jools Holland and the like and Channel 4 screened a live gig recently too) but I'm not convinced I could be arsed to actually go and see them.

I think it was the Sydney gig that was screened, I may be wrong though.
