Re: New Waters Tour

I don't know how many of you fellas live down under but according to www.myrogerwaters.com Australia has been added to Rogers 2002 tour.

BTW, if this has already been covered elsewhere on this site, my apologies for posting it again.

Re: New Waters Tour

Thanks for this, I had not picked up on it. Still no sign of a European tour though which is disappointing for people this side of the pond. For anyone in any doubt, it's worth the cost and hastle of travelling to catch Roger's solo performances.

Re: New Waters Tour

One thing I can say about Roger's shows vs. the new "Floyd"...(reminds me of "the New Coke"...heh)...at least when Rog plays Floyd, he plays the stuff *he* wrote.

Re: New Waters Tour

Well what kind of a show would Pink Floyd have if they only played what Dave, Rick, and Nick wrote? Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason, woo hoo! j/k

Re: New Waters Tour

Actually Rog said in an interview in 99 he was going to play anything he liked regardless of who wrote it, unlike past shows. I can't think of any examples off hand, but I am sure I will, and when I do I'll get back to you.

Re: New Waters Tour

There you people go again crying about old times, when Waters was still in the Floyd...
Wake up people!! He's not there anymore! Waters playing songs from PF times are NOT Floyd! I can't hear Dave or any of the others play, so the real Floyd spirit isn't there! Ok, so MLoR and DB aren't any good, so you all wanted another album which could stay about 700 weeks in the top charts, but it just can't be done. Music has evolved, and so have the Floyds. I'm just glad I can still listen to them.
Dave, don't give up! Keep Talking is great! High Hopes on the PULSE tour has one of the greates slide solos i've ever heard! You can do it, show them!!

Floyd ON!!!

Re: New Waters Tour

Radiochair:

Remember a Day
See-Saw
A Spanish Piece
The Narrow Way
Summer '68
Fat Old Sun
Childhood's End
All of MLoR
All of TDB

That, and Dave has some excellent solo stuff ("Blue Light" comes to mind...)

Re: New Waters Tour

What kind of a concert would it be if that was their setlist? Aside from the MLoR and Division Bell stuff, none of it is any of their hits. Which would be fine for diehard Floydians like us, but most people want to hear the stuff that they'll recognize like Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2 or Money.

I don't know there Psycho, I liked the Division Bell. I'm not sure if Dave has another real album in him. He's getting kind of old and at some point he'll probably stop all together. As for people replying normally...

"Who do you think you are? God taketh life and giveth life, not you. I think you are the devil itself."

Re: New Waters Tour

Psycho, what are you?

Really?

I mean I love Floyd of old, and I don't deny Dave's involvement in Floyd, but really Roger was the heart and soul of Floyd, which is why I'd go to a Waters concert ten times over before going to Dave's Floyd's concert, if there ever is one again. As for music evolving, I don't discredit that, I love modern music. From Rage to Radiohead to Eminem. But please, just because there is new stuff out there, we shouldn't give up on the old.

Is this a good enough response for you...Or would you rather I rambled on discrediting your opinions?

Re: New Waters Tour

Ok guys - he was harsh, and we were harsh back.

(Radiochair - let's not bring religion into this too! )

He's got his opinions, and their valid to him as ours our to ourselves, i don't wanna repeat an drab about 'opinions' (which i think i just did but hey...)

Sure I may disagree with Psycho, but that's not enough for me to belive he is wrong. I think he has 1 part incorrect - I know that I personally am not waiting for Pink Floyd to come out with a new - Record Seller.

In fact I only wish for a tour so i can see this great band (or former members) play - ANY OF THE MEMBERS!!

I'm not awaiting another DSOTM, nor another "Division Bell" - rather just to see, listen, learn, and feel their music - with them in front of me.
I think i gathered that you agree with me, and i think most here don't want or believe the Floyd's gonna have any more new hits.

And yes, the 'floyds' have changed - they've been in the limelite, now their enjoying their fame, they've had their glory - and that glory is enough for me to bask in if i lived a million years.

But I respect your opinions.

Cheers,
Charade I Am

Re: New Waters Tour

Thanks Charade... I don't know if you are on my side here, but I liied that reply anyway... Sorry if I was too harsh here, but I was just trying too say we should adapt and give thanks for being able to listen to whats left of the Floy in concert

There's this WYWH video, going on a Portuguese Music Channel, only with Roger playing and some other musicians, and I just don't feel the same listening too it... Sure, It's got the same lyrics and chords and all, but it's not the same...

Sorry again, I'll be more reasonable in the future!

FLOYD RULES!

Re: New Waters Tour

No, no. Don't worry about being reasonable- It's cool. Say whatever you want to say, man.
Yer opinions are totally valid and there is nothing wrong with expressing them in their purest (or even, basest, if the feeling grips you) form.

"Nice"

Ps-There's nothing wrong with being a Gilmour whore.

Right Bull?
