DS are awesome. Definitely one of my top 5 bands of all time I still remember buying their live albums (On The Night I and II) from all the money I had won in a competition in school. Knopflers raspy voice, incredible guitarwork, White's (and somtimes Cumming's) beautiful drumming, the songs themselves.

I've worn those tapes thin!

And yes, I am also a big time fan of Gary's blues work. I still feel he is one of the most under rated guitarists.

EDIT:::: Incidentaly, one of my most favourite tracks from those live albums is "You And Your Friend" [On The Night - II]
I think their best song was "Local Hero/Wild Theme." The feel Knopfler has on his guitar is amazing.

Also, I love all of Gary Moore's work, especially his rendition of Freddie King's "The Stumble."

Local hero (amazing song) is a Knopfler work, not DS.

Then they made a mistake when they put the song on the album Sultans of Swing - The Very Best of Dire Straits.

Two giants. Moore of course is well known to all; Freddie, sadly, died young, but was a force in the '60's. A big influence on all since who've played blues guitar.

Speaking of Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson and Nick Mason are teaming up.

Yes, live version, because Local Hero is the last song of each dIRE sTRAITS and Mark Knopfler concert. There is no DS studio album with Local Hero.

Local Hero album
