Re: Pulse tour back in 1994

I am only 17 and have been a Pink Floyd fan all my life. I have one of the Pulse shows on video tape when it was done at Earl's Court in 1994. To all of you who own the Pulse album, I am wondering what your favourite live song is.

Personally, I love the live version of "Comfortbly Numb." I loved how they stretched it out to be 10 minutes long and David Gilmour was so awesome.

And to all of you who have this video tape or have been to a live show [i am really jealous] just want to say that the lighting they do is like nothing other. No band could ever compare to Pink Floyd live.

Hope to hear from you all,
Chazz

HEH... PULSE not that good really, check out their other video, or a bootleg of The Wall, Dave's voice is a lot better on these older recordings.

But your right, the shows did beat any other, today though I think Marilyn Manson, and NIN have just as good if not better stage shows visually, though I am not a fan of their music.

Hey All Floyd is Good,

I have been a PF fan all of your life as well, and some more besides and although I haven't got the Pulse live video, I can think back to the last time I saw PF live in concert - before you were born - and can confirm that they are consummate showmen.

"I wonder who could be writing this song."

Floyd on!
Byron

p.s. You really SHOULD be starting from the earliest albums/songs and working your way up, but what the hell do I know?

Hey Byron,

Dont get me wrong on that, I love early Floyd too! Piper and Saucerful are two great albums. And Atom Heart Mother is one of my favourites. I singled out the Pulse tour because thats the only one I have got to seen visually. Talk to you all later.

Re: Pulse tour back in 1994

Like Byron I've been a Pink Floyd fan (and I mean serious fan) since before Chazz was born. Great that he's picked up on the early stuff not just the live "best of" albums.

Floyd shows were amazing. From Dark Side with its crashing planes to The Wall, truly original. No-one had seen the like. (Should add here that I've only seen The Wall - I may be old, but not that old !).

Pulse, well we've seen it all before. Essentially a tribute band playing someone else's material using someone else's ideas for live shows.

Chazz - Roger Waters has put on some spectacular solo performances. Not just the Wall in Berlin, Pros & Cons was a large scale production set in a bedroom with a huge TV, back projection and inflatables.

KAOS was a very different show live. Done as a radio show with a DJ, the KAOS album was included with other Floyd greats. During the interview there was a phone in, where the audience could call Roger on the stage.

Re: Pulse tour back in 1994

I havent seen any Roger Waters performances except, The Wall Live in Berlin. I liked how it was done, except the fact there were these "special guest singers" instead of Roger singing. Some songs were brutally messed up by those singers.

Bryan Adams as well. He's a cause of national embarrassment.

But, best live song? I don't yet own the P*U*L*S*E video, but I do have the DSoT video, and the version of Comfortably Numb on that is amazing...

Re: Pulse tour back in 1994

I have found out that most people do not own the Pulse video. So, I was wondering if you have been to a Pink Floyd concert in the past or have a live album [Pulse, Wall, etc.], what was their best performance?

Re: Pulse tour back in 1994

As for live stuff, I have both the video and album for PULSE, the Wall Live, and two bootlegs, one from Animals tour and the Atom Heart Mother tour. The Atom Heart Mother bootleg is probably the best live recording I own.

Re: Pulse tour back in 1994

Have we forgotten about the Delicate Sound of Thunder video (its late, I'm lazy, so if I got this title wrong I apologize, please correct me, don't flame me).

Dave's voice is a lot better on this video, unfortunately I don't have it, but I rented it from the local video place. The shop is closed now, and I haven't saeen it at other places, was this video a figment of my imagination, or can someone back me up?

Re: Pulse tour back in 1994

I am Familiar with the Live recordings Radiochair Mentioned(Except for the Wall Live), and I happen to agree with him that the Atom Heart Mother Tour Boot he has (Which he got from me  ) is the best Live show he has.
It's actualy composed of 2 shows combined together, both on the Paris Theatre in London UK, One from 1970 & one from 1971.
It's actualy also one of my own Favourite
Pink Floyd Bootlegs, which I have 17 of them...

Re: Pulse tour back in 1994

Yes there is a Delicate Sound of Thunder video. For a while it was in the Columbia House video catalog (Canada). It was my brother's subscription though, and he wouldn't buy it. But that's all I know about the video.

Re: Pulse tour back in 1994

As I said, I own the DSoT video (still looking for P*U*L*S*E...hard to find in a small town...it took me two years to complete my collection of Floyd CDs) but their best recorded performance by far has to be "Live at Pompeii"
