Right, because heroin is the only drug administered subcutaneously.

Re: Heroin and Comfortably Numb

I really dont consider Waters to be a junkie.... and I don't consider Comfrtably Numb to be a song about heroin.... that is Nobody home ("I have a silver spoon on a chain".... what that tells you???) wich is a song talking about the life of a rock star, with many drugs adicction...

I can't recall the source nor the concert itself, but I think it was during the In the flesh(animals) tour that Waters had neumonia or something like that, and he couldn't even move, so they doped him and sent him to the stage "I went to a concert when I could hardly stand on my feet" I recall him saying.... VERY similar to what happens in comofrably numb (let's not forget that apart of talking about different issues, The Wall tells us a story)

Actually, "silver spoon" refers to being born wealthy and has nothing to do with drugs at all.

Well, yes, indeed, but since junkies dissolve the heroin with a silver spoon, and they always have it with them(on a chain), it goes well together with other "drug like" references (like nicotine stains on my fingers, swollen hand blues, etc...). That's what I thought, but it's probably I'm wrong

I always interpreted that as referring to an accessory popularly available in head shops during the 70's and 80's. Wealth and privilege would be the 'born with a silver spoon in one's mouth' metaphor, I believe.

Not that I actually know. I never really thought about it.

Re: Heroin and Comfortably Numb

I may be wrong. Roger certainly had a dislike for Rick Wright and much of that song is about him (a grand piano to prop up my mottle remains) and Wright was using cocaine at the time.

All I ever heard Roger say about that song was that it was about " a lot of different people."

Certainly, I think we all have at one time "a strong urge to fly, but nowhere to fly to...". It's really a beautiful song/lyric

(BTW: The spoon I heard can also be used to dissolve cocaine, so maybe that'll be more proper (I really couldn't tell, is just what what I heard...)
