Re: Fender geeks and guitarpeople

I'm utterly bitter.

Not really. Whenever it's good for you is good for me.

Thanks.

yeah, Teles weren't made to look extremely beautiful. I think the sunburst ones are, but I hate the white pickguards. They just look like they cover the guitar to me. Thats why im thinking about getting a clear pickguard. I do agree though, the strat is a beautiful guitar. But im a tele man.

Re: Fender geeks and guitarpeople

I never have been a big fan of teles. Until I played that one I mentioned earlier.

I'd been a Strat man, myself, until late. I fell in love with my Squier Tele, and with the purchase of the Fender Standard Tele, I've converted.

I haven't played the Squier tele. Is it any good? My Squier Strat sounds like crap.

Re: Fender geeks and guitarpeople

I bought mine (it's a Fat Tele; humbucker in the front) because it was cheap, and I wouldn't feel guilty working on it. Needless to say, the stock pickups were horrible, so I replaced the back single-coil with a new Fender '52 vintage-style. With the other needed upgrades (tuners, pots, knobs, switch), it now radiates (for lack of a better word) utter vibe.

Think reverb-soaked De Stijl in the back position, solid Weezer-blue-album chunky rhythm stuff in the middle and neck positions.

good stuff.

I got me the US Tele, in the mable natural finish... she's my baby... Personally, I think the Tele (in the right finish) is a real thing of beauty...

Re: Fender geeks and guitarpeople

Tele's do have great tone.

The only thing I don't like about the strat is the volume knob location. I have a tendancy to hit it with the side of my palm.
