Re: Fender geeks and guitarpeople

2004 is the 50th anniversary of the Stratocaster. A 2004 model is almost identical to a 1954 model. That says a lot about the genius of Leo Fender.

Teles are great. the only problem is that some of them are a little heavy (not extremely but you know what i mean) and a bit big. the bodies are thick, at least. But besides that I really love my Tele. im planning on modifying it a bit, adding a clear pickguard and stuff.
I haven't played a strat a lot, mostly cause everyone around me plays them. they're very popular. so I decided to get the other side of the fender world and go with a tele. It was either that or a jag, but they are way expensive. at least the good ones are.

Re: Fender geeks and guitarpeople

My only problem with a tele is purely aesthetic. The body looks like it was cut out of a 2 X 12 plank, compared to the beauty of the contoured/sculpted strat body.

I played this vintage tele at guitar center today. I couldn't put the damn thing down. It sounded so amazing.

Racism?

I'm very disappointed entering the Fender.com website, I got excited with the ad: "Win a 50th anniversary", all of a sudden I felt sad, 'cause you can only enter the context if you are USA resident, is it pure racism?, isn't it, or how can we call this. Surly there are more Fenders in the rest of the world than in USA, but they are only thinking in USA.

By Racist, that they put their Fenders in their ash

I've played a '77 Tele before. It was a very good guitar, despite being from Fender's 'dark ages'.

Speaking of which, I bought a new Tele today. It's a Fender Stardard model, black w/ white pickguard. It looks really basic, but it sounds awesome.

You really need to know before you starting using the word racism. If the guitars are beeing made in the usa, its not odd that its there they have the contest and that only usa can enter. If you think thats racism then you are just (cant help saying it) stupid.

Re: Fender geeks and guitarpeople

How many does that make now Shane?

I know I shouldn't even post this on here (I'm not too popular already), but something about the Fender Guitars always rubbed me the wrong way. As a matter of fact, whenever I see a Tele or Strat being played, I'm immidiately turned off, but when I see a Washburn or Gibson, it's like I miss my baby.
