It was only on the 8-track version, where time constraints demanded that both parts of the song be placed together. Snowy White was around, and played the guitar solo that linked both parts together.

I still haven't heard it, incidentally.

It's one of my favorite little solos. Easy to play and it sounds great.
I snagged it off Audiogalaxy before they tanked. It's on Snowy White's "Goldtop" album, if anyone can find a copy of that.

Its a good solo, I heard a boot of it, somewhere.

It wasn't cut, by the way, it was added later.

At one point they were going to have Pigs on the Wing be one long song, and have the album just four tracks.

In the end, the decision was made to have the album bookended, like the last one, but instead of a long intro and outro, they opted for a short one.

You are wrong, Roger added the POW parts on his own as an after thought cause he thought the album was too gloomy. Their purpose was always bookends. Snowy was asked later to contribute the solo for the 8-track, because Rog thought it helped give continuity to the whole thing. You'd think with Cds now being able to be put on repeat they would release a special edition of Animals or something.
