Re: Personal Top-10s?

Just wondering what everyone's personal top-10 of Floyd is. Get a better idea of where you all are, you know? Well, without any blathering like there is in my infamous reviews, here's mine:

10. Hey You
9. Mother
8. High Hopes
7. Brain Damage
6. Dogs
5. Time
4. Shine On You Crazy Diamond
3. Echoes
2. Wish You Were Here
1. Comfortably Numb (could you tell?)

Re: Personal Top-10s?

Any colour you like, Scarecrow, what's, uh, the deal, Time, Us & Them, the funky part after Wish you were here, Sheep, cymbaline, the bootleg version of Green is the colour, A pillow of winds.

It's not in any particular order.

Have any of you bought the Sigur Ros album I mentioned in another posting yet????

You're missing out!!!!!!

Re: Personal Top-10s?

THERE ISN'T A PINK FLOYD SONG I HATE!!!
I Love them all, from Piper...To Division

The Only song that would stand out apart from the rest would have to be:
SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND (Pts. 1-10)
My wish is to hear the studio combined version of both halves.

Re: Personal Top-10s?

It would be nearly impossible for me to choose ten, give me a week and deep self-examination and maybe I can come up with one fitting my mood at that particular time.

Re: Personal Top-10s?

Sorry Wrightkeys, but there's only nine parts to Shine on you Crazy Diamond, not ten. Top ten eh? Hmmmm... I'd rather not say. Music is my escape, and it's my own. I wouldn't want to give it away.

Re: Personal Top-10s?

You can never choose top 10 songs of floyd!
Cause:
1.There are so many great tracks by floyd.
2.Pink Floyd Was NEVER a Song/single group(well maybe except for the last 2 albums) but an album Group!

If you remember, WE had some time ago a topic called "top 5 albums by Pink floyd" or something like that, so I will try here to give my top 10 Albums(so to speak), and my 3 Favourite Bootlegs from My collection.

So here we go:

1. Wish you were here
2. Dark side of the Moon
3. Meddle
4. The wall
5. Atom Heart Mother
6. Saucerful of secrets
7. UMMAGUMMA
8. relics
9. more
10. Momentary Lapse of Reason

I know I'll get Hit for not Including Piper, Animals & Final Cut, But those albums just don't talk to me Musicaly. Sorry Guys! But I guess Everybody is entitled to his own Musical taste, doesn't he?

as for my Bootlegs, My 3 Favourits are :
Live at Pomepeii(1972)
Atom Heart Mother Goes On the road(1970-1971)
Smoking Blues(1970)

For setlists you are welcome to visit the Pink floyd ROIO Archive on the web on:

Re: Personal Top-10s?

I agree with archer on that one. Especially since I consider WYWH to be one long song, with distinct verses. But I guess if I had to cive my top ten, it would be
Mother
Time
Have a Cigar
Hey You
The 2 last tracks of The Final Cut tied with the two last tracks of Dark side tied with Dogs tied with Time tied with In the Flesh tied with anything from WYWH tied with... see told you I can't do it. Don't get me wrong, not everything Floyd did was gold, but my faves always depend on my mood and what I've been listening to lately.

I'd like to think that one track from every album would be included, but really it wouldn't.

Re: Personal Top-10s?

I must agree with NNJohn's earlier comment that any top ten list of mine would only indicate my favourites at that time and be dependent upon my mood/mentality also at that time.

Having said that, I'll give it a whirl:

1. Echoes (esp. the funky whales bit)
2. Great Gig in the Sky (how DID they make her do that?)
2. Shine on You Crazy Diamond (all)
3. Money
4. Comfortably Numb
5. Remember a Day
6. Summer '68
7. Jugband Blues
8. Bike
9. Green is the Colour
10. Scarecrow

This is no good at all. While thinking of my top ten, I managed to recollect ten more which are just as much favourites as the above. Ho hum, lost cause.

11. Julia Dream
12. Time
13. Astronomy Domine
14. Lucifer Sam
15. Young Lust/Run Like Hell
16. Not Now John
17. Wish You Were Here
18. Nile Song
19. Cirrus Minor
20. See Saw

D'oh! I still have a hundred more to list!

"It's awfully considerate of you for making it clear that I'm not here."

Floyd on!
Byron

Re: Personal Top-10s?

I know...I just read my own top ten list, written yesterday no less, well, speaking of moods, here's mine for today.

10. Nobody Home
9. Have A Cigar
8. Breathe in the Air
7. Run Like Hell
6. Eclipse
5. Fearless
4. One of These Days
3. On the Turning Away
2. Us and Them
1. Learning to Fly

Hm. An exercise in futility, indeed. What I've learned from all this is that...I like Dave today. It's a rare occasion, people, mark it

Re: Personal Top-10s?

Yea we've done this before - and I couldn't bring out my top 5 then, and I donno if i can do a top 10 now.

Lemme think,

All of Animals,
All of WYWH
All of Dark Side
All of Meddle (Except Seamus - well, actually screw it - yea Seamus rocks)
Most of The Division Bell
All of THe Final Cut
All of The Wall
The Early Singles (too many)
Piper, Well and see!
It's too hard,

So "Run Like Hell" is better than "Pillow of Winds" but is Echoes better than Run Like Hell?

And If it is than Shine on You Crazy Diamond must top Echoes..or does it? ANd Dogs, and Sheep and Pigs ---- bloody hell, I can't do it.

I can't...
...
