Yeah, so what? It's not interesting or whatever, but it's something that's Pink Floyd related.

But when it comes to tributes, Aussie Floyd can't be beat, says I.

Isn't there some sort of anti-crap posting rule around here?

Yeah it says that Illuvatar can't post anything, but we're too lazy to enforce it.

I'll take your word for it, but I don't know if I could get into tribute bands.

Reminds me too much of Elvis impersonators, even if that's unfair... kinda like "it feels nice, but you wouldn't want anyone to see you doing it", if you're familiar with that joke.

They're not impersonaters though, they don't try to pretend they are Roger Waters or Dave Gilmour or whoever. They just play Floyd music very well. And with the chances of the real thing touring soon being non-existant they're worth a try.

Actually, I take back some of what I said. From the blurb on your link, "As yet no track listing is available but it is understood various artists will tackle Pink Floyd's classic tracks". I missed that on first look somehow.

I have some problems with the aforementioned impersonator mentality, but it appears that this could be something better - actually a tribute by artists (as yet unnamed) with some established work of their own. Too many times its just some mediocre musicians just trying to capitalize on someone else's success, and it'd be nice to see something different.

Aussie Floyd

They were supposed to play in my town, I never went because I thought they'd be crap. Would they have been worth the money?

Yes they are a good show. Plus, I think that in the next years we are going to see more and more tribute bands, as the original artists cease performing. Maybe we're going to see sort of "rock orchestras" playing The Beatles and Pink Floyd exactly like the classic ones play Beethoven and Mozart.
