Re: Pink Floyd's music......weird?

It's all good.
That's cool, all the stuff you do like the Jazz clubs and opera's - I can't get out that much (too busy moderating? nah, ur good buggers).

Actually my band (4 of us - same inst. as floyd) are learning Jazz and we're planning on doing some gigs like that.

Best Jazz song all hands down: The Girl From Ipanema

Well, that and "San Tropez".

...and when she passes, the men she passes go "AGH!"

That girl has gotta be at least 70 by now, but she DID look good in her day.

Hey...I listen to a lot of punk and still Pink Floyd is my favorite band, so some people can like both very much.

Re: Pink Floyd's music......weird?

That's cool "Three Different Ones" - Glad to see someone with such varying tastes.

I know mine don't vary too much off the Floyd and music like it (and the Jazzy stuff mentioned above...or is it Jazz?)

Re: Pink Floyd's music......weird?

That's Great Patrick that your band is learning Jazz! It will Broaden your boundaries and help you become better musicians, and maybe turn into a progressive rock band

anyway, I only went there twice, But I'm planning to go there for the third time on august, cause the music is great. the jazz guitarist they had last time played guitar like a Devil who came right down from heaven with a blessing from God himself...

Not to mention the other members in the band were great, and the club was just like the clubs pink floyd played in the early days, in the manner that there is NO Stage, But the Audience and the musicians are on the same floor level, and you can sit 2 meters from the band.

Re: Pink Floyd's music......weird?

Maybe turn into a progressive rock band, get destroyed once by drugs (just two years into the limelight), then release some of the most beautiful music known to modern man, and get destroyed once again by infighting, and have the remaining members be accused of beating the dead Floyd horse and the solo fellow can have a critically acclaimed but commercially subpar career.

Re: Pink Floyd's music......weird?

Exactly what I was thinking guys!

(in fact I'm gonna set it up so that it all happens - get a memeber hooked on drugs so that we can kick him out and bring in a better one! Well, no but it could happen)

A name?

Any ideas ?

(What is Girl From Ipanema then?)
