What do you like best about Pink Floyd?

What do you like best about Pink Floyd?

Is it the way that Roger Waters writes lyrics?

Is it the way that Dave Gilmour and Richard Wright write music?

Is it the way that Syd's psychedelic sound worked so well in the 60s and still does now?

What about their music?

I have never thought that syd was any great. His music isnt as good as floyds. But he is important.

Other than the fact that they will unfortunately and probably never tour again, I love everything about Pink Floyd: the music, the movies, the mystery, the madness!

1. Gilmour's guitar solos. Rick's keyboard work.

2. Water's lyrics, which are refreshingly free of stereotypical hackneyed "love song" blather, which have been beaten to death in music for decades.

3. PF experimentation is a welcome alternative to the 'standard' rock format of I - IV - V chord progressions, and 3-minute pop songs.

What is it with everyone thinking those two were responsible for all the music? Rog wrote too.

I like how the songs flow into one another. Also how every song can appeal to any musical taste.

I dont think every song can appeal to every musical taste. Thats not true at all. No one does music like PF. They didnt follow music trends they always sounded FLOYDIE. PF are like marmite. You either like or you don't.

See, a question like that can't be answered. That's what makes the Floyd just so great and amazing...no weak points! Extremely unique, inventive, mysterious...everything. Sometimes I think it's uncanny how good they are (rather, were). I mean, c'mon, they've only released 3 not-so-good albums...and they really aren't that bad. Everything else has been sheer brilliance.

one of the things I like the most is they have an album for every mood and then sometimes I just like to pick one at random and let it kinda "dictate" my mood!

Yet another precise, to-the-point, informative post, like we have come to expect of you stratty

They have an album when I'm in the "lovin' " mood? Or how about when I feel the "rage to knife everyone I see" mood. How about a "meditative" mood?
