Re: The Mars Volta

I heard one of their songs on the radio, and I have to say I was quite impressed, but I'd need to hear more before I could fully decide.

Drunkship!

I hear only the drunkship of lanters and i donīt know why, but it remind me a little of the live version of Interestelar overdrive (the one in A saucerfull of outtakes)....maybe i was drunk or something.....

Re: The Mars Volta

Well...I went to the APC concert last night in Dallas and the Mars Volta were the opening band. I thought they were ok...nothing special really..but not bad either. They played a 25 minute song though...I would have rather heard five of their 5 minute songs so I could judge them a little better.

Re: The Mars Volta

They don't have any 25 minute songs.. the only reason why it was that long is cos they IMPROVISE.. somthing that a lot of bands lack these days.. I think the singer has amazing stage presence..

cheers

he did do a handspring during that song which I totally wasn't expecting. In addition, during the last song he grabbed a mulit colored shoulder mounted spotlight and was running around blasting the crowd with different colors....that was kind of cool too. But the music was only average at best...

Don't get me wrong...they weren't a bad group, I think I was just expecting a little more.

Re: The Mars Volta

Interestingly enough, Deloused in the Crematorium is probably the best sounding LP out right now, literally.

It's awesome on vinyl.

Re: The Mars Volta

I agree, i was at that same concert, i think i had my expectations a little high. Man i cant beleive how well APC played, maynard had the flu, and Freese with a broken knee, good show, though it was obviously cut short.
