Re: The Mars Volta

At first hear, I thought they were alright. Then I put the cd on when I had to drive to columbus last week, and I love it, except maybe it's a little long. Someone said they were a jam band; from listening to the album, it's like psychedelic art punk or something, it's hard to put a stamp on their style. However, I too am very excited to see what they do in the years to come.

Re: The Mars Volta

The mars volta are my second favourite band next to pink floyd . I heard them like a year ago and i havent been able to get them out of my head since. The whole album is dedicated to their friend who died of an overdose and its like a spaced out story of his life. Oh yeah and i love thier afros.

Re: The Mars Volta

actually.. it kinda freaked me out when i found out what the album was about... you know what.. I think I might go listen to it now..
teehee.. the afros are cool.. the drummer is pretty hot. at the bdo he had a t-shirt that said "@#$% Bush"
I hope that doesn't offend anyone.. it was amusing to me

cheers

Re: The Mars Volta

Next time you listen to it try to understand what theyre singing. Listen to what the actual lyrics are it will freak you out, its sort of sci-fi nonsense. "is this wrong feels so wrong. happened on the respirator in the basement..."

Re: The Mars Volta

I saw The Mars Volta open for A Perfect Circle last Wednesday in long beach. They put on a good show, but to me they sounded like a Led Zeppelin rip off band. Which isn't all that bad considering how good Zeppelin is. Specifically during the last song they played, all I could hear was "whole lotta love" except instead of jimmy page and robert plant, they had a bunch of guys with skintight pants and afros. In my opinion A Perfect Circle put on a surperior performance.

Aren't you a little too young to have seen Zeppelin? I don't know when their last show was but I'm guessing it was around 79 or 80. I think I recall seeing your pic in the "post your pic" thread and you didn't look that old.
