The Mars Volta

Interesting band.. but i can see it not being everyone's cup of tea.. I have to say that they are better live than recorded.. which is very rare with bands these days.. For my rave review of their live performance, check the concert resume thread...

what do you think?
I know you like it Shaners
cheers

Rather cool, I thought.

Having only had one or two listens.

Re: The Mars Volta

It does take a while to adjust.. there's no band that's quite like them so it's a bit of a culture shock.. if you get my meaning.. I still can't tell you what my favourite song is or what not.. it take a while to get to that stage for me.. but I'll get back and tell you..

cheers

Re: The Mars Volta

It's bizzare I'd heard one song and thought they were average but when I saw the live.. I think you really need to see them.. that's their strength..

cheers

Re: The Mars Volta

I'm just such a big Flea fan that I think I'm going to have to get the album. I really like his style on the album. Really different from his RHCP material.

Re: The Mars Volta

I haven't heard them but I'll be hearing them for the first time on March 23rd in Dallas. They are opening for A Perfect Circle and I have tickets. I hope they are good...a good opening band is always a nice bonus to a good concert. I hear they are kind of a long winded jam band but I have no idea what they sound like...it will be interesting to check them out.

Re: The Mars Volta

The only song I know is Inertiatic ESP. I heard it and thought it sounded interesting, so I looked them up on the internet, and I read about what the album was about, and it spooked me out a bit. The thing ir ead was at www.themarsvolta.com, then I clicked on Band.

Inertiatic ESP isn't bad though.

Re: The Mars Volta

I loved At The Drive In to death, and I deeply believe that they weren't an emo band, for one they never had a love song, or "im hurt, waa waa" song. Sparta, the band formed from most of the members, now thats an emo band. I dont like them all that much. Mars Volta i think is really carrying the torch after the death of ATDI, and I think they're amazing. I almost got to see them live but missed it. not enough funds on my part. But I think the record is great and im sure they're great live. I can't wait to hear what they'll come up with in years to come.
