Oscars and Grammies

The Grammies are a joke in my opinion, there is only ONE good album nominated for best album of the year, the rest is garbage.

It's not that much of an honor to win a Grammy anymore, they give them away like candy canes, but anyway: who do you think should win best album of the year, whether they are nominated or not? Here are the nominations.

Justin Timberlake
Missy Elliot
Outcast
Evanescence
White Stripes

From that horrible list I would pick The White Stripes.

As for the Oscars, they have a little more integrity, but they are not that great either. Here are the nominees for best picture.

Lord of The Rings 3
Lost In Translation
Mystic River
Master and Commander
Seabuscuit

I have only seen, Lost In Translation, so obviously I would vote for that one.

Oscars, pah. What a load of pointless pointlessness. Who cares who wins?

P.S. Lord of the Rings to win.

Well it is basically an employee of the year ceremony aired worldwide. If you don't care, don't bother with it.

Honestly, given the options my vote would go to Outkast and Lost in Translation.

Sadly I doubt something as good as the stripes will take it..

As for the oscars.. I'm surprised that cold mountain wasn't nominated cos that is a damn fine movie.. I doubt that anyone will be able to get past LotR these days.

I have to say that I bloody well hope that Rene Zellwegger wins the supporting actress oscar.. she was extraodinary in Cold Mountain. I'd say the performance of her career..

cheers

If it's anything like the book it's not a chick flick. I haven't seen it, but i've read the book. The book was excellent, I believe it won the National Book Award (not that that's worth anything, but it should be pointed out).

It is award shows like these that make celebrities "celebrities".

Pure Arrogance.

Guess that's what can be expected when everyone is patting you on the back all of the time.

You've got a point NNJ.. but she's been improving since Bridget Jones...

Fletch: what's so wrong with awarding people for doing good work and hard work.. it's no different to writer's awards..

cheers

I'm all for awarding deserving people. My question to you is: What's wrong with a little humility?

BTW, did anyone see the performance by the White Stripes?

Absolutely stunning.
