I think it'd be fitting if when Dave dies, he's "found dead on the phone." He's become the very corporate whore Rog was railing about all those 24 years ago.

Dave died many years ago. The corporate bosses hired a fat look alike to appear in front of audiences and used previously unreleased recordings of Floyd standards to play at concerts and shows. This way Floyd can continue to make money for the PIGS.

If they wanted to hire a Dave look-alike, why on earth would they make him fat? Just find some short, skinny guy who never washes his long, long, dirty hair, and you've got Dave, 1970-1983.
