I think this album is really damn good, so dont get me wrong when I say that it sounds like disc 3 to The Wall. It falls into the same sound genre as The Wall only it really has no concept as do the rest of their albums. It seems that every album has its own unique sound, as where TFC does not. Remember my first line as you read this, I do enjoy the album, hell the Post War Dream is on of my top 10 fav. songs by Floyd. But I dont believe they gave it theyre all. It sounds like different versions of "On the Turning Away" all rolled into one, but that song wasnt even out yet so....blah blah....

You are right. They didn't give it their all. Well, Roger did. Thats why it sounds like the Wall disc 3. ![]()

Both TDB and AMLOR blow even more than TFC. TFC is not very good, yeah, but not nearly as bad as those nasty, nasty post-Waters albums. Ouch!

Pedge, Sorry, mate. I am re-listening to BROKEN CHINA now just for you, but it doesn't really move me in any special way. He shouldn't sing anymore, IMHO. That's all. Of course, being a mere listener, I'm in no position to condemn his obvious talent, and I can certainly recognise those particular Wright-inspired PF sounds and flavours, so for that alone it bears hearing. But, on the whole, no.

I think TFC seems like the Wall part 3 for a few reasons: A. It was intended to be such originally. The Final Cut was to be the soundtrack to the movie and include a few tracks that didn't make it. B. The lyrics continue with the highly autobiographical nature of the Wall. Most of the lyrics are first person. C. Roger continued to work with Michael Kamen on the orchestration, so much of it feels as big and bombastic as the Wall did. With that said, I love TFC. If I could rank PF albums.. 1. The Wall 2. The Final Cut 3. Wish You Were Here 4. Dark Side of the Moon 5. Animals The big question for me is which do I prefer: TFC, P&CoH or ATD

I think the placing of the track Not Now John is wrong. I think it should have been before The Final Cut so it goes: 10: Not Now John 11: The Final Cut 12: Two Suns In The Sunset You play the album like that, don't you think it sounds better?

No, I don't. You miss the point of Not Now John. "**** ALL THAT TEARYEYED BULLSHIT..." right after such an emotional song as The Final Cut, and then because of that attitude the world comes to an end. It's a warning to anyone still in command.
