Look, I'm getting sick of people saying TFC is Floyd's worst album. At least it's a lot more listenable and approachable than some of their gritty, experimental garbage from the '60s. Before I get flames shot up my ass here, I'm talking about "Waste of My Time", aka the Ummagumma stuido disc. Grantchester Meadows is ok, and The Narrow Way is a great song, but if you like "Rick Banging His Head on the Piano for 12 Agonizing Minutes", "Squeaks and Giggles", or "Nick Throwing Tennis Balls at His Drums Also for 12 Agonizing Minutes", I think you need your head examined. I defy anyone to try and convince me that's any better than TFC, which I will admit is lacking musically (as if said three songs aren't) but is Rog's finest work lyrically.

I agree whole heartedly. TFC is bashed as being a RW solo without quality music and some even complain about the lyrics. I honestly think that the lyrics are only bettered in roger's ATD and some misc. other times in PF/RW careers. True it isn't extremely musical album but that also isn't to say its not quality music. AMLOR is musical but leaves me feeling empty and uncaring. TFC is an emotional rollercoaster whether or not you agree w/ Roger's views on Galtier (sp?) or Maggie or Reagan or whatever. I happen to agree w/ most of it but thats an entirely different discussion. Whats important is the feeling that is put into and taken from the album. I think as far as really being able to feel an album TFC has been unmatched since it came out except maybe by ATD. If you want a nice album to listen to while your having a jolly time with your friends or need some good background music TFC certainly isn't the way to go but it surely is if you need something you really want to sit down and get into (as with most floyd) my ranting and raving is done.

I DISAGREE!

TFC, is second musically only to WYWH. The only reason it has such a bad rap is because it doesn't have the signature Floyd sound, whatever that may be. But if it wasn't Floyd, and you heard it, you'd prob'ly love it. You are biased by what you expect from Floyd.

Lyrically, the album lacks on side one, and all the Galtier and Maggie mentions I could do with out. But it is very poetic towards the end. This album started out as a bunch of Wall outtakes, and frankly ended up being better.

It is very high on my rotation, simply because of the last two songs, With Not Now John being the poppy, "Money"-like breakout hit. The last lines of the album are certain gut-wrenchers.

Simply put, better musically than Ummagumma and lyrically lacking at parts, it beats The Wall if I had to choose one album to take on a desert Island, but not Dark Side or WYWH.

Man, I never thought I'd hear female chorus singers belting out the refrain "**** all that, **** all that". I love that tune.

Perceive,

You've not listened to enough (any?) Frank Zappa then.

Never could get into that Zappa fellow. Anyone who names his kids Dweezil and Moon Unit, then says he never in his life did any drugs, well...

But, where are all the people saying "No, I hate you, TFC is awful!" Hm. I guess it's better that I'm not getting flames shot up my ass, but it's surprising so many people agree with me given the number of people who prattle on about how terrible TFC is.

I really haven't noticed that many people who really don't like it - just people who criticise everything and include TFC with it, which is a perfectly fine thing to do.

Was just checking out another Floyd site (shame on me, I know), taking a look at poll results. "Worst Floyd Album". Take a guess.

TFC is a good album, contrary to popular belief. Sure, it isn't as lively as Money or as solo perfect as Comfortably Numb, but the lyrics really speak out. Oh, and Not Now John is pretty darn funny with the backup singers...er...listen to it yourself.

I'm guessing you mean the song, though I too have back up singers, but its not quite as funny.
