Guitar Competitions (Guitarmageddon)

So I just got back from signing up for Guitarmageddon. Which is Guitar Centers nationwide guitar competition. Last year I made it to store finals, then lost. Hopefully I do better this year. Has anyone else heard of this?

Yeah...we have a GC here as well. Not my thiing though...It'd feel kinda like a Steve Vai- vs -Ralph Macchio kind of thing..

Nice analogy fulghum...crossroads owns! I've played with a few of those "shred" guys...and while most of them can play really technical stuff they lack originality. Our band is all about doing original stuff and most of those "shred" guys tinker and noodle around on their guitars so much you can't ever rehearse with them. I don't need to hear the end of Eruption inbetween each song we rehearse.

I don't mean anything against you Rabid....good luck and hopefully you'll win this year. Not all the "shred heads" are the same....just most of em.

Yeah, I'm not shredding anyway. Last year i did this 'Texas Flood' sounding song, and i got like 8 or 9 points out of 10 for originality. The other guys were just going nuts it was dumb. But the guy who did win played this Santana ripoff thing. And that's all the guy was anyway was a ripoff.
