Kurt Cobain's Diaries

What do you guys think of this? I guess the book has been out for a while. But it's a compilation of pages of Kurt Cobains diaries/journals published in a book. When I heard about it i was totally pissed off, I think that's so wrong. I was at Barnes and Noble today and I picked up a copy and started reading it. It's so insane. I feel like I'm in Kurt Cobain's head. I will never listen to Nirvana the same way again. What do you think of this?

Let Cobain rest. I hate these kind of ways to make money.
He is dead, and he took his own life. A troubled man, no need to stir in his personal thoughts and ideas.

Let Cobain rest.

Didn't Courtney Love put it out? That's wrong. They're Kurt's thoughts, and no one else really needs to know them, ya know?

I wood like to offer an opposing view to the responses seen so far;
I haven't seen or read the book but I have seen books & articles suggesting that Cobain wuz murdered(!)
shouldn't ppl be able to read Cobain's diarys in order to gain insight into his depressed mind
- so they can see & maybe understand his motive for suicide?

Not really, its his life not yours. We dont have shit about his motives, and we do not have to understand. It was and is his life, and his family!

You have a point, but I'm sticking by what I said earlier. I'd hate it if my personal buisness was availble to just anyone. It's still not right, even if you're dead.

I think its totally wrong to get into someones private thoughts like that. I mean, would you like someone publishing your private journals like that? I think its wrong. I dont care about "trying to understand his mind", it was his mind and his alone. it wouldn't be different if he wrote an autobiography, sure, I'd read it, but journals, no. that wasn't meant to be published.

I bought the second (softcover) printing of it, and, after a couple days of thinking, totally regetted doing so.

The book is interesting, indeed, but to think that Courtney Love got money for this is sickening.

As for Kurt's death, I believe he was murdered.

After I read it at the book store, the first thing I said was "Why the hell would somebody actually put their time into putting this together and publishing it?". It's really ridiculous that the thing even exists, IMO

It's cool though. To read it is fascinating, but to see CL reap money off Kurt's death isn't so good.

Yeah it was very interesting to read. His cartoons/comics were kind of, err, twisted. But I feel like I know Kurt Cobain a lot better now. Whether that is good or bad, I don't know

Considering everything you think you know about him comes from what is fed to you and you are more than eager to eat it up.

I actually have a copy of this book, I never intended on getting it but it was free so I figured "what the hell, couldn't hurt" I finished it in a couple days. It wasn't all that insightful just some stories and comics and such, it isn't very personal and near the end you could tell he wasn't suicidal (I have my own theories). But all in all it was an interesting read.
