The Forums Stagnance

So, wtf is going on? The forum seems pretty lifeless lately. A lot of members haven't posted in a long time. Where's the life? where's the controversy? We need something new. Maybe that musician forum would be a good idea. Maybe we need a new contest (though the last one didn't seem to go over well with everybody). Maybe we need a new format? I don't know, we need somethin' or this forum's gonna die.

Re: The Forums Stagnance

I must admit I find myself myself coming here less often and when I do I usually can't be arsed to post anything but that's the way these things work I suppose. New people join other people leave, maybe you could stir up some controversy yourself!

Stagnance? Is that a word?

Re: The Forums Stagnance

Yeah... I dunno, it's like, you go away for a bit, then, when you come back, there's loads of new people (a good thing, incidentally), but you totally don't know them, nor their personalities and, it kinda, weirdly, makes you feel slightly, out of touch. D'y'know? To be honest, though- I got all my Pink Floyd annecdotes, knowledge, trivia etc out within the first year or so of being on this site and kinda have no more to contribute, which is sad, but true. I spend almost all of my time in the general discussion bit and very rarely actually venture 'up-top'. I'm not even really into them that much these days. It's not an insult to those that are, I've just moved on a bit, y'know? I can't say that these are the exact same reasons that other, more senior members may give, but I'm pretty sure that they're not a million miles away from, I reckon.

I couldn't actually be bothered even typing this myself, so I'm dictating it.

Can you tell?

Yours sincerely,
Yadda yadda yadda

Re: The Forums Stagnance

Even as a Mod I find myself not as motivated to be as active as I was, say, six months ago. I dunno... I think RM is right, we need something to give us a spark again. I tried moderating naked, but that only scared most folks..well, except for one.. you know who you are sweetie.

Ho Hum..

Yeah. Dang.

Now if only we knew of a way to stir things up Personally I don't really find it that bad. There are times and places for things. Think of this as APFFNs 'downtime'. Everyone rests and recuperates and comes back with a vengence

Re: The Forums Stagnance

That's true. Kind of like a band on a break. And then they come back and produce a kickass album. Or they come back and totally suck. Ahem, Metallica I'm looking at you!

Oh and btw, I agree with everything you said Mark! I haven't listened to Pink Floyd really since last year.

Re: The Forums Stagnance

Here's something else for the forums to considr and ponder: I am not even 500 miles from where fixxlevy is.

I have got myself a new, temporary, job and will not be able to moderate as much or as often as I once did or do currently.

I think I will hand over the baton, for younger hands to watch over our beloved PF fan site. This isn't attention-seeking or any attempt to really shake things up - stagnate, stagnation, stagnancy okay, but stagnance? - but the advent of this thread seemed like a good time for it. Neither is this a swan song as I expect to check in every day as normal.

Let me just thank The Piper for keeping this PF resource going for us fans, to all those who may have voted for and supported me as a moderator, and all my Friends in Floyd, old or new, whether we disagree or not, young whippesnapper or sage, unholy Trinitarians. You've all made my love of Pink Floyd music that much more enjoyable, that much MORE. Long may it continue.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish."

Re: The Forums Stagnance

What? You mean noone wants to see this?

Well, now that I have your attention :

Now I must warn y'all first off. The pics are kinda big in size. They also suck, quality wise (the only good picture was the one I TOOK of Lisa. My room mate needs a good kick up his arse!)

Ok, so here are the links

Here's Lisa! :: http://www.trackpads.com/gallery/data/500/2802lisa.jpg

Doin' That Promenade! :: http://www.trackpads.com/gallery/dat...2802dance1.jpg

Takin' a breather :: http://www.trackpads.com/gallery/dat...2802dance2.jpg

Gotta swing.. swing... swing :: http://www.trackpads.com/gallery/dat...2802dance3.jpg

Let's Hustle Baby! :: http://www.trackpads.com/gallery/data/500/2802dane4.jpg

All I'm missing is a white suit! :: http://www.trackpads.com/gallery/dat...2802dance5.jpg

If y'all wanna see my entire gallery and other photos I will be uploading there from time to time, check out :: http://www.trackpads.com/gallery/sho.../500/password/

That link also thumbnails all pics before opening them, so it might work faster on slower connections. Have fun and lemme know what you think. If I'm lucky, I'll have the video by the starting of the summer (This will most probably include BOTH dance styles, English as well as Latin )

If you think about it..we are still activly discussing a band that hasn't cut a studio album in almost 10 years.

Heh..i quoted myself (don't know if anyone has ever done that before) from one of my posts on the dark side of the forum. Anyways...what I said before pertains to the current topic too. It seems to me like recently alot of the new posts have been duplicate threads. APFFN needs some new blood....some new people to add some life.
