Shine on your crazy diamond sintetizers ¿?

Hello everybody, first of all i would like to introduce myself... I am a 21 year guy from Bs As Argentina, i am a guitarrist, and play a bit the piano. I was wondering to know which sintetizer is being used in shine on your crazy diamond at the begining and if someone know the name of the effect (i think there are two diferents, one plays a melody and other is at the background....sounds really great
I have a Yamaha DX7 and would love to achieve a sound like that.
It's impossible that they used that sinteizer cause the album was released in the 70's and the DX7 was putted in the market in 1983, anyway I think i can achieve a sound very similar or equal to that.
Thankz a lot... cya
Toni
pd: forgive my english, it's not very good... :S
