I think Radio KAOS is by far Rog's best solo album. It has an interesting theme, catchy music, and marks Roger's last "real" effort at singing. I like Amused To Death but the half-talking half-singing thing gets to me sometimes. And, well, I love the Pros&Cons but that's a given. It just sounds like a Wall/Final Cut-era Pink Floyd album.

What are everyone else's view on this album and Roger's other two official solo albums?

Pros and Cons sucked, never listened to KAOS, and Amused to Death stands up as a great album.

As much as I like Rog, I think Radio KAOS is by far terrible. Any "concept album" that comes with a little book to explain it isn't worth it, trust me.

No that's a bit hard. Personally I find the concept a little dubious but there are some great moments on KAOS. It is one of the few Floyd/Waters albums where the music is more important than the lyrics, except for a few songs such as Tide Is Turning, Me or Him, Powers That Be. The live show was excellent, as grand as a real Floyd concert.

I agree it is not in the same league as Pros & Cons and ATD is the best FLoyd album since Roger left !

The concept "a little dubious". That's an understatement

"It's bollocks." That's an understatement too. Heh. It's incoherent and pretentious, not to mention highly unlikely, to the point of being disconnected with that whole "real world" thing.

"The tide is turning", indeed.

It is definitely a weak concept but the messages about communication, home, market forces, the soap opera of state were kind of interesting. Not Roger's best solo work and interesting that in 2000 he did not include any KAOS material in his live set.

yeah, I don't think he included any KAOS material on his Kaos promotion tour either. From what I heard it was mainly Floyd standards.

If by KAOS promo you mean KAOS Live, the show included Floyd songs in the context of a live radio broadcast, ie the whole of the KAOS album.

I like the way KAOS is set up as a radio broadcast, the whole Billy/Benny story seems a bit ridiculous and the album is forgettable save the last 3 songs. home and 4 minutes are a wonderful classic waters combo and the tide is turning is ok though it comes off better with the berlin '90 performance (even with Lauper shrieking portion). KAOS is certainly Waters least memorable work in my opinion.

Unless you count the Wall live in Berlin. Symbolically and historically significant, but Bryan Adams? Sinead O'Connor? Yech.

The Wall in Berlin put a different slant on the songs. I'm not much of an O'Connor fan (prefer her dad, Des really :smile but Mother was actually OK.

Not keen on Bryan Adams either but he done well as did the excellent Van Morrison.

Back to the point, KAOS is Roger's weakest solo album but it is still not a bad album.
