Man, say what you will about Syd, but compared to the rest of Floyd, his work is more than enough to bring a smile to my face  see? Not the kind of stuff I listen to at a party, say, but I can just shut myself up in my room, throw on "Piper" and smile. You know? Something that doesn't need to be endlessly analysed, or explained, just positive, upbeat music.

There's enough negativity on these boards to choke a horse (and a lot of it from me)...Just thought I'd add a positive note here

Well, thank you.

Seems proper to, in Syd's spirit through involvments (and non-involvement i guess), that we should keep it positive.

But then again, it seems like no one besides me wanted to reply to a message that actually was to stay off negative conversations

Anyway - Syd's stuff truely is magnificent, not as technical, but surely as beautiful.

Peace.

Ahem...I have stated previously elsewhere that Syd's offerings are without doubt some of the best - hmmm, make that the wildest, quirkiest, most magical - stuff from the Floyd...Ever.

And about that, I am absolutely positive.

Hmmm. I'm not sold. Sure he was innovative, but in a rather naive, childish "press anything" way. His influence on, honestly, ANYTHING is highly over-rated.

Johnny Rotten on Sid Vicious:

"He took it all too far, and boy, He couldn't play guitar."

LOL, coming from Johnny Rotten, that is bad.

Syd is one of my guilty pleasures. I will admit that if he had survived his drug use and dementia, he would never have survived as a pop star. Some of his stuff is just rubbish. Yet some of it is just pure fun. But nothing that is ground shaking or really that wondrous.

Percy,

But are you also a seer of visions or just a general madcap who's laughing?

A terrapin? An efervescing Elephant? A dog? A pig? A Momentary lapse of reason?

Radiochair,

True, true. I made mention of it a while back. I love it.
