Godspeed you black emperor

My friend and I talked about this band today. I haven't heard any of their stuff, but he's raving about them, so I'll be having a listen when he gets around to lending me a copy.
I think they're playing at The Nightmare Before Christmas, but I'm not sure, perhaps I've just heard Cedric mention them before.

Godspeed is a great band. F#A# is a lot of fun, as is Antennas. A friend of mine used to live near the place they rehearsed in Montreal, and would sit outside and listen in. A side project of theirs, A Silver Mount Zion (with the A changing with each album), is also interesting once in a while.

This band owns so hard, Everyone shoud atleast listen to the song Moya. Alos everyone should check out A Silver Mt. Zion's most recent release Horses in the Sky. That cd is in m,y top 5 of this years cds. for Godspeed You Black Emperor! check out Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada ep. That was my first of theirs I bought and that got me hooked.

GYBE! are my other obsession (the first being Floyd naturally). I've got all their albums and virtually every unreleased goodie. They're from a different planet altogether. Montreal is apparently full of this sort of stuff. For anyone looking for an introduction or some more of Godspeed's stuff, there is a website that offers 20-30 of their concerts free! Its legal and approved by band management. There are also a host of other concerts from mostly indie bands on the site.

i just got me the album Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven, but it all seems so boring to me. is this just because im more into punk and faster music? or do is post punk suppose to be this boring? or do it just requires so listenings?

i wouldn't call it post punk..
but i'm not exatly sure what the title post-punk would entale...
It's slower music for meditating and such eventually it reaches climax (sometimes twice) and it's absolutely beautiful.

Godspeed is best with the lights out. On headphones. or take a walk at night or something. Especially Storm....when the violins came in that first time....
