Godspeed you black emperor

anyone heard of this band? I heard their music on 28 days later and I got into them afterwards, and they're actually quite interesting. I'm going to get their albums next, after Mogwai and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

I've got an EP of theirs on vinyl, and I quite like it.

I've heard of them. Haven't really gotten into them. Kind of a long name.

I've only heard a few seconds of a song by them, but my friend says they have Floydish sounding production and a bunch of really long 20-something minute songs.

My EP has one song per side, somewhere around 15-25 minutes each.

It's very jammy kind of stuff, pretty good, but I just can't find the words to describe it. Floydians would probably dig it.

I love GSYBE! They are really cool if your into what they call, "post-rock." (stuff like, Sigur Ros and Mogwai)

I have several of thier albums, thier masterpiece is "lift yr. skinny fists like attenas to heaven" and I suggest you get it.

The EP that Shane is talking about is a good place to start it's called, "Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada" it was my first Godspeed album too. They are pretty popular here (in a certain crowd of course).

If you do like them, be sure to check out "The Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra" which is made up of members from Godspeed.
Also, check out "Explosions IN The Sky" another Post-Rock group and Sigur Ros if you haven't.

Pick up their full length release "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennaes to the Heavens". It's a double disc with four songs and over 80 minutes of the most mesmerizing, beautiful music you'll hear.

Lift Your Skinny Fists..... rocks! This is what I think of as a rock symphony. All the tracks just ebb and flow and you don't know what's coming next! Quite the musical journey for your ears.

is it better than Antennas to Heaven?

I listened to f#a#oo and the only song I could really get into was East Hastings.

Unfortuately, this is their only release I've got. I traded a mint DSOTM on vinyl for it, and I don't regret it a bit.
