OK, this Q was touched on before, but I'm going to expand on it:

The working title of Dark Side of The Moon was "Eclipse" as has been established. But there was a working title used before Eclipse. What was it?

Dark Side of the Moon.

If I recall correctly, this was the title Mr. Waters started out with in the first place. Unfortunately, a lesser-known group released an album under this name, so they had to change it to Eclipse. But when this lesser album (mercifully quickly) faded into obscurity, Mr. Waters changed the name back.

Is that anything like the real story?

Yes, F-W, you are exactly right. (Bonus points to anyone who can name the "lesser-known group")---sorry, not my place to ask another Q.------ F-W, the floor is yours.

Yeah, Thor. That was kinda sneaky, I admit.

Strat, I don't remember the "lesser" group.

This is probably way too easy...

Which PF song does "Unknown Song" feature parts of?

(One will be obvious, but to my ear there are TWO legitimate answers.)

By the way, the 'lesser' band that used the name Dark Side of the Moon for their obscure album was called Machine Head.

Correct, Thorin.

Out of shame from my last question, I felt a need to make that one easy, since I knew it had been discussed recently.

The other legitimate answer would've been the AHM suite.

Your turn now!

Dave was in Bullitt. Before that, Jokers Wild. Before that, The Ramblers. Before that, the Newcomers.

My source says the "lesser known group" was called "Medicine Head"....hmmmmm....I'll have to research that.

Just checked. Medicine Head is correct. Machine Head is some pack of angst-filled punk hardcore screamers.

Looks like the people who put together the PF Encyclopedia are a little sloppy.

Yeah... the PFE is a bit sloppy... there's some puncuation and capitalization mistakes.
But don't let that put you off... at least 99.5% of the information is true in there.

Thx for the gold star, Thor. (long as it don't say "Juden" on it!)

I'll have to track down a copy of PFE, sounds like a must-have for all serious Floydoids.

Speaking of Jokers Wild, here's a Q that is so obscure even the PFE probably doesn't have anything on it.... In 1978 when Dave was recording his first solo album at Britannia Row, he had his old J-W chums helping out. (Willie Wilson, Ricky Wills and Clive Welham). They had some spare studio time, so Dave asked if they wanted to record anything. They ended up recording a song that they used to do as a crowd favorite when they gigged together as Jokers Wild. The guys all begged Dave to release it, but he refused. Anyone know the Name of the song? Hint: It was a cover of a Four Seasons song. (No, not"Big Girls... " nor "Walk Like A Man")
