| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations Wings !?!?! NNJ & Radiochair - please use the j/k ! J/k by the way. Everyone has different tastes. Personally, I find Lennon and McCartney very over rated. Anyway, some of my faves, excluding Floyd/Waters: Van Morrison Various African bands (try Super Diamono, Salif Keita, Papa Wemba) Clash - any fans, try the new Joe Strummer album Stiff Little Fingers Some Pistols The Smiths |

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations whats all this Radiohead (Except Pablo Honey) about. So Pablo Honey isn't Radiohead's best. I personally don't think its their worst. Like saying: floyd is great except for Piper or Dark Side for that matter. Radiohead changed styles (like floyd did several times) and they seem to be going through another one but i feel that most floyd fans would enjoy all of Radiohead, even Pablo. Enough ranting. Bjork - definitely Rage - more in the (waters) message than music style. Air - trippy Orb - very trippy NIN - still waiting on the Waters/Reznor album. Tori Amos - maybe for some - Plus the obvious classics (ie: Who, Zeppelin, Beatles, Dead, etc.)

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations I have a very big taste in music, so this could take a while: Pink Floyd- Duh Fav. Album- Animals Bob Dylan- All of his stuff. He is without question music's greatest genius and the most important man in rock. Fav. Album- Bringing It All Back Home Led Zeppelin- All of their stuff. Achillies Last Stand is my favorite song from them. Fav. Album- Physical Graffiti The Rolling Stones- They should have died years ago, but they continue make good music. Fav. Album- Exile On Main Street The Beatles- Really overrated. They still made really good music, though. Fav. Album- Abbey Road Radiohead- The best band of the 90's without question. OK Computer is my favorite album ever and Kid A is a close 2nd. BTW, Pablo Honey is really good. Fav. Album- OK Computer Yes- Really underrated. Fav. Album- Fragile Jethro Tull- I've only listened to Thick As A Brick which is really good. Fav. Album- Thick As A Brick Metallica- They made a lot of good music in the 80's, even though they suck now. Fav. Album- Ride The Lightning Beck- Very experimental stuff, and it's really good. Fav. Album- Mutations The Who- Without Tommy and Quad, there would be no Wall. Fav. Album- Quadrophenia Velvet Underground- America's Pink Floyd, pretty much. Fav. Album- Loaded Bruce Springsteen- Really good music and no gimmicks. Fav. Album- Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ Caravan- They sound a lot like Pink Floyd. Fav. Album- For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night. Black Sabbath- Dark, heavy music, that I really like. Fav. Album- Paranoid The Smashing Pumpkins- They were reallt good. Too bad they broke up. Fav. Album- Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness Phew, that was a lot.

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations My Piece of Mind: Beatles and Doors suck. Queensryche is the closest to floyd you'll get. Has anyone heard Operation: Mindcrime! That is the only non-floyd concept album i know of. (Besides waters) They brought in James Guthrie just for the reason that he had worked with pink floyd on the wall. I don't know if anyone noticed,,,, but on the last song of mindcrime (Eyes of a Stranger),,,,, Queensryche did a tip of the hat by copying the intro to Empty Spaces at a fast tempo! Silent Lucitity(Empire, 1992) is in the style of Pink Floyd. Pearl Jam rules!

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations Bowie sucks I wouldn't consider anyone in the pop music world when i talk about concept. The only reason i was honoring mindcrime as the only other GOOD concept album out there is because it's concept is cynical,,,,... just like the Famous Five!!! Queen = Pop Who = Not cynical enough When you say what you just posted,,,,... it reminds me of someone telling me that the Doors are musical, or that the Division Bell is a concept album. (You know, rubbish like that!!!) But thanx for the put down!!!

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations Madcap, before you become completely convinced that the Doors do indeed suck, may I suggest "Peace Frog" from the Morrison Hotel album. as far as the Beatles go...if you think they "suck," you must shit tulips, dude. shine on. *shrug* with that out of the way, my favorites. and yes, i am a Pink Floyd fan. hahahahhaha Beatles - Anything from Rubber Soul to Abbey Road. Although the Beatles also could rock n' roll with any of the legends on their pre-Rubber soul albums. Beach Boys - Pet Sounds. Doors - They always produced pretty solid conceptual albums. Cream - If Rush had some taste, they would've been Cream. Bob Marley: I'm still blown away by the Uprising album every time I listen to it. I also like listening to some trippy jazz (Coltrane's "A Love Supreme," Davis' "Birth of the Cool," Charlie Parker's "Bird with Strings" are all dope) and some old blues dudes. Some vintage Howlin' Wolf. great stuff. |

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations Most of my favourites have probably been seen here before, but here are some that I'm not sure were included. Billy Joel --If you can't tell by now, I very much enjoy certain keyboard-dominated work Radiohead--Kid A (haven't heard the others yet) Aaron Copland (classical) George Gershwin (classical) There's more, but I can't think of them all right now!

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations Hey, Cooper Are you trying to tick me off? Why would you rip on rush like that? At least they had a bassist, as for some bands I know (DOORS DOORS DOORS) I'll have you know that I actually like Abbey Road (Take that however you want to) You wanna know something else,,,, Morisson used music as a medium to get sex and drugs. That's an insult to all four members of Floyd and all other people who actually have respect for music. All they did was try and get as many organ solo's as they could into one song.

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations First of all, the Beatles are good but overrated. Second of all Morrison was a poet, not a musician, he did little on the musical aspect of the Doors, so to say he used music to get drugs and girls is wrong, cause really the rest of the band did the music, he was the pretty boy singer. The biggest hit they had was written by Robby. Third of all, and I say this again, pop music has some incredible gems out there, by turning a deaf ear to Bowie you only do a disservice to yourself. By the way at the time Floyd came out, they were considered pop, almost all music was, there wasn't the sub-sub-categories we have now. Now go ahead and piss all over my comments, I don't care.

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations All Pink Floyd save for the stuff before AHM to be honest... Led Zeppelin... absolutely everything David Gray... I think he's different in a good, moody way Ben Harper... Fight For Your Mind only... he got crappy after that Wyclef Jean... The Carnival was EXCELLENT... and I usually despise R&B and rap Paul Oakenfold... if you're in a trancy mood Ella Fitzgerald & Louie Armstrong Blues... they're just classic and wonderful to listen to Deep Banana Blackout... has anyone else heard of them? I love them... they're so much fun! Jimi Hendrix... (surprised no one's mentioned him yet) Smashing Pumpkins... great guitar U2... when you're in a pop music type mood... but some really good guitar by the Edge Jefferson Airplane... what a great band I guess you can all see I have a tremendously broad range of tastes...

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations Cream - If Rush had some taste, they would've been Cream. what is that supposed to mean? Cream are like Gods, but Rush may be even better. But you really can't compare the two, Rush is prog, Cream are the blues. and Madcap Diamond are you a moron? You ripped on the Doors for not being musical, umm ok, they are great musicians, there jams are just splendid. And you ripped on them for not having a bassist, what does that have to do with anything? They did have a bassist, a session guy both on stage and in the studio. The only time they didnt have a bassist was when they were still small. |

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations I agree, Wyclef is great, and I think he has even greater things ahead of him. By the way, have you heard his WYWH cover? Different but just as good, except for that part in the middle about facing his critics, as the original.
