Our goals may differ somewhat, Cooper old man, but as far as common interests go, uh, what's the name of the band again?

anonymous dude:

hahahhaha. you will be happy to know that your sarcasm is not wasted on me. however, i didn't ask what our common interest was, but rather what the goal was. that's like asking someone for the time, and the person responding: "i don't know what time it is, but it's wednesday, you stupid moron." hahahhahahah.

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

As far as I can see (which being slightly myopic, isn't enough to identify buses at the end of the street), the common goal is to deseminate information and to exchange and take on board opinions and points of view regarding both Pinks Floyd and fraud.

On the other hand, occasionally situations arise where certain feelings or thoughts are expressed in such a way by one individual that happens to encumber upon another individual (to their detriment). I feel that there's a good chance that these latter individuals need slightly more encouragement to fulfill their full potential (no matter how small the perameter), and any kind of levelled negativity or perceived persecution will only stymie them, when they could be spending more time contributing as opposed to being preoccupied with the aforementioned negativity (whether intentionally -or unintentionally) thrown at them.

I think that Manic is one of these people, just like you, or me, or Percy or NNJ or Charade or Bull(I'm picking these names at random, incidentally). It's true that I've had the odd go at one or two people, so I'm not entirely blameless, which I'm happy to acknowledge, but we're all adults here, and as such, I can't see that there's any point CONTINUING to use a tone that you know causes offence or is deprecating to certain numbers in any way. Say it once, fair enough, but there's no need to labour the point (as I feel that I might be doing now anyway).

I just want everyone to get on, with no- one feeling hassled or persecuted, and I don't feel that there's anything wrong with that.

Anyway-

seeds of entropy,

Mark

Isn't this where we came in?

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

thanks for the discourse on human morality and harmony, but i never meant any of my writing to offend anyone. c'mon, y'all...jeesh, chill out. it's all good. i said this from the beginning. in my estimation, i've only been conciliatory toward our Rush lovin' friend/fiend. hahahahhaha.

and hey, don't fall on the way down from your soapbox! hahahahha. i couldn't resist!

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

horse, soapbox...whatever turns you on, dude. hahahhaa

while i'm already on here, let me ask y'all a question. did RW ever talk about the concept behind Dark Side of the Moon? i've always thought that the album's kinda like a full-circle trip, i.e., life as a concept. with the heartbeat in the beginning, "Time," "Money" and the Final Eclipse, the fading heartbeat at the end...i've always been under the idea that it's supposed to signify the life cycle. anybody know anything about this?

Let me be the first (or maybe not the first, whatever,) to heartily applaud fixxlevy.

Thanks, man

Floyd on, or whatever, everyone. As soon as I get this goddamn computer working to my satisfaction, I'll be back (I'm warning you in advance )

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

First let me say that I agree wholeheartedly with all that fixx said. Cooper actually sounds halfway intelligent, perhaps he could shut up long enough to say something.

Anyway, let's get back to the topic. I forgot totally about Primus, Pork Soda has to be one of my favorite albums.

Now I have a question about Golden Earring. Yes, I said Golden Earring, Is that even spelled right? Anyway, I often hear on the radio their one hit, Twilight Zone, and it reminds me of Floyd. Has anybody heard of these guys? Does anybody havce an album? Can anyone tell me if it is worth it to buy an album? Are these guys another great band that the public chose to ignore all those years ago, or do they deserve their one-hit wonder status?

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

hahahhaha. nnj, you're a moron, dude. right down to your pretentious george carlin quote. hahahhaha. why the hell is everyone on my jock, anyhow? i was hardly the person to begin this pathetic excuse for controversy, and i've only been accomodating to madcap's (not to mention nnj's) personal attacks. and now i'm getting shiat from y'all because...what?...i don't even know what i've done. *shrug* hahahhaha whatever, dude. i think everyone should just chill and quit taking themselves so damn seriously, but that's just me. be yourself. hahahhahaha

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

I would guess that everyone is "on your jock" for the exact behaviour that you have displayed in this last post. I'm not sure when you joined but a majority of your posts seem to be derragatory or pointless sarcastic rambling. we are all certainly guilty of this to some degree but it seems that most in this community manage to be civil and engage in productive discussion even when they disagree. Most also avoid calling people morons or slighting their opinions and forum topics. We all have opinions on Floyd. i would just suggest that you be a little more positive towards other members of this forum and give your opinion or interesting information instead of displaying your wit and sarcasm. It truly is a better forum that way.
back on topic - Jane's Addiction was one I hadn't mentioned earlier but I definitely think they have a similar energy (despite a completely different style) to Floyd.

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

thanks for degrading the questions and the commentary that were non-madcap-related. and if you took the chance to read some of my other posts, you can't say that everything that i say is to just display my "wit" and be negative. i left my wit at the bus station in philadelphia years ago. hahahha

yes, i understand everything you all are saying. hell, it was said to me by three different people. and if i have caused offense, i've already apologized. that was never my intention.

however, an alternative way to look at this situation is: who's above a little bantering once in a while? and i'm sure madcap's a big boy/gal. i mean, c'mon. hahhaha

and i will stay on topic this, since it seems apparent to me that nobody can be bothered with reading anything but the topic-at-hand. i bought my very first "Motown" CD yesterday...Marvin Gaye's 1971 "What's Going On" album. fantastic. the percussion is complex, the melodies soothing, and the arrangements still retain the "cool" sound of most Motown records. highly recommended. have a good day, y'all.

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

Seeing as i live in (or extremely close to) Motown - i'm glad for you.

On the topic that everyone seems to be on - i'm going to say that "labouring" is exactly what's going on right now.

I think most have realized this "labouring" is occuring now and have chosen not to parcipate further in this discussion - to their benefit (and ours).

With out the use of big words, i'll say what is needed here.

DO NOT CONTINUE THE DISCUSSION OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED (in your posts) CONFLICT - DO NOT TRY TO PATCH THINGS UP. If you wish to further this - contact eachoter by Private Messages.

But we now fully return to the real topic at hand - and no more discussion of eachothers 'moronicity (?)' or 'dumbness' will take place on this topic (hopefully the whole forum too eh?)

If it continues, i will be forced to lock this topic.

If you have any questions or comments regarding the above - contact me through a private mesaage or READ THE FORUM RULES.

Thank you,
And have a nice day.

---PS, i got a David Bruebeck CD, with some well known songs "take 5" - but the versions he does of Disney songs "Someday my Prince Will Come" - are incredible!
