Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

yeah, let's move on. please. hahhaha

ah...yes...but the real master of "Someday My Prince Will Come" is Miles Davis. he even put his old lady on the album cover. that's before Miles came to look like Tito Jackson on crack. at the peak of his "cool" period, beginning with "A Birth of the Cool" and ending with "Bitches Brew."

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

"Blue in green", from Kind of Blue, is really, really good. Also, has anyone ever heard "Mather" by The Dave Pike set? That's one tune that really is "ahead of it's time". "Flying teapot" (the song), by Gong, is pretty brilliant, also. Any song that has a chorus of "Have a cup of tea/ Have another one" (and pulls it off) deserves some sort of recognition....

Does anybody like Portishead here?

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

It's a little late, but I haven't been here to respond. Wings isn't the greatest, but you could do a lot worse. Live and Let Die is incredible.

As for no one mentioning Jimi Hendrix, I actually don't like Jimi Hendrix. He may have been a good guitarist, but I don't like his music.

Radiohead's Pablo Honey is pretty good, but it isn't as good as the rest of their albums. For Radiohead fans: I've been hearing that another album may be coming out in the first half of next year. Watch out for it.

Seeing as Amnesiac was poor self indulgent toss, I hope it'll be worth the wait.

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

HEY! Amnesiac was damn good. Pyramid Song is probably my favorite Radiohead ong ever and You And Whose Army pretty much sums up what's going on right now. The only song that sucks on Amnesiac is Like Spinning Plates.

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

What? Like Spinning Plates was my favorite track on the album. Life In A Glass House, You And Whose Army?, Packt Like Sardines, and Dollars And Cents are incredible. The only thing about it is that the album doesn't feel like a whole, almost like a compilation. You can tell that the songs were the ones left over from Kid A. Amnesiac may not be as good as Kid A, but the album is the best album that I've listened to that has come out this year so far.

How do you figure that it was self indulgent?

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

It makes such a blatant attempt at being the entity called "prog-rock". It reeks of "love us, look how cool and modern and oh-so-hip we are."

Actually, that's the exact opposite of what they're going for.

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

My personal reactions to Radiohead's last two albums were like this:

Kid A: Took me awhile to get accustomed enough to the samples I was hearing, and some convincing from a friend, but as soon as I actually bought it, I found it to be excellent.

Amnesiac: I simply can't stomach the samples at all. There is NO CHANCE I will ever buy that album.

Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations

Radiohead is guilty of trying to be something more important than they are, which is just a rock n roll band. That ultimately is what, IMHO, doomed The Wall.
