| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations While some people were talking about something like this, I figured I'd make a topic about it. What band or album do you think your fellow Floydians would enjoy? What music do you enjoy that you want the rest of the world to hear? (Please, nobody put their own bands in there). I figure I'll start out. All of Radiohead's albums (except for Pablo Honey) Can Manic Street Preachers (Best album: The Holy Bible)(which is unfortunately unknown to most people on this side of the Atlantic). Tool (Lateralus) J.S. Bach (for those who want to step up on the "musical sophistication" ladder) Syd Barrett Rick Wright Roger Waters Nick Mason (Fictitious Sports, the fellow did a good job on that one) David Gilmour Electric Sheep (my band) Rage Against the Machine (Self-titled) This isn't everything I listen to for I have a very wide range of tastes. Unfortunately, many of them are well-known and mentioning them may cause others to think un-musically sophisticated.  |

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations Good topic. I pretty much agree with you about Rage, Tool, and Radiohead. I'd also like to throw in Bjork, and Phish. Despite the fact that these 2 have become trendy as of late, they are still incredible.

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations At the moment, I can only think of one track which does for me as much as any PF song, and I realise what a contentious comment this is but...like I care.  Tangerine Dream's "Cloudburst Flight" on their Force Majeure album. Killer guitar solo; will leave you feeling as though you'd been ridden hard and put away wet; like being dragged through a hedgerow backwards. Try it, I know you'll like it.

My favorite bands, and the ones I recomend are: Pink Floy (of course) Nirvana (Lithium rocks) Red Hot Chili Peppers (Great Guitar and Bass work) Xutos e Pontapés (It's a portuguese rock band, they don't sing in english, but their music is really great. They survived 20 years of pop music here, so really try to download some of their songs. If you know portuguese, thats even better) After naming these bands, I can only say that the main reason for getting into Floyd was because of their guitar work. The melodies or the lyrics dind't get to me at once, but the magnificent Any Color You Like / Breath 2nd Reprise solo wsa what really got me to listen to Floyd |

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations I dig: Sigur Ros- Aegitis Byrjun(but you all know that anyway) Post "Bends" Radiohead Ultramarine- Every man and woman is a star Leftfield- both Leftism and Rhythm and stealth Pink Floyd- about half, to be honest First 2 Massive Attack albums Air- Premier symptomes & the virgin suicides OST The Beta Band- 3 EPs (check it out) Metallica- first 3 albums +, I suppose, the black one Black Box Recorder- The facts of life the Spaced soundtrack CD Sabbath's first 6 albums Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime, which is a fantastic mid eighties concept album, if you've never previously heard of it. The Buffalo 66 soundtrack, Hunky Dory + a lot of early Bowie... Houses of the Holy... Just anything that has that real 70's embodiment vibe + to my chagrin, some more extreme metal hangovers from my teen years and Virus 100- an Alternative Tentacles compilation of DK's covers- it rocks! | Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations By the way- Ficticious Sports has been widely acknowledged, even by the man himself, as a Carla Bley solo album that it was useful to have his name attached to. I like his production on Steve Hillage's Green album, though. It's dry. Cheers, Mark

Yes - (one of the best progressive rock bands out there, tho they have succumbed to 80's styles and changed somewhat drastically, but look at Pink) Supertramp - (these keyboardists are increadible, i grew up with the music) Alan Parsons - (just classic music really, nothing extremely special, but i did get into them before the Floyd, and it was great to learn he enginnered DSOTM) Led Zepplin - (Just some great tunes) The Beatles - (I mean, i don't like all their stuff, but alot of it is very nice, and i can play it on my guitar! ) And then their's those bands i've heard but a few tunes which i think are very nice: Radiohead, Peal Jam, The Doors, The Who. and i must agree with Radiochair on the Bach thing, him and Vivaldi are just magnificent.

| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations Charade, And here I was a bit wary of including Alan Parsons, Supertramp and Yes, but I must agree. All my 70s and 80s techno-pop faves are also in the list: Brian Eno, Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Klaus Schultz, etc., etc.

Tom Petty, nearly all his ablums excluding Echoes Micheal Jackson, the Thriller album (I know what you are all gonna say, so keep it to yourselves, this is a great album) Pet Shop Boys, I can't think of one album that I like as a whole but various songs of theirs are great--especially October Symphony Weird Al, ok I know he's not really a musical genius, but he is so damned funny Public Enemy NWA Now you may all commence the criticism.
