Re: Floyd and Drugs

The thought occured to me last night, do you really think that the "stoner" image attached to Floyd's music is deserved? I know that every time someone new finds me listening to some of their music, the reaction always tends to "but you don't get high" Especially considering the later stuff they did (The Wall, The Final Cut), would anyone want to get high to that? Just some thoughts of mine.

Re: Floyd and Drugs

its a very interesting situation. especially with the final cut. I only recomend it to the mentally stable (non-suicidal) floyd fan.

LOL, nice one albatross.

I have always maintained that one would have to be on drugs to listen to Pink Floyd.

Re: Floyd and Drugs

I discovered Floyd after I discovered drugs, but they have stayed and the weed has gone. Therefore, I would have to say that one does not need drugs to enjoy Floyd, but one may need Floyd to enjoy drugs.

Re: Floyd and Drugs

i smoked weed then liked pink floyd. i guess before my mind wasnt 'open' enough. i wouldnt say you need to have drugs to like pink floyd, but youd need an open mind possibly (which drugs can help with)

Re: Floyd and Drugs

I got into Pink Floyd a few years before trying my first joint proper, as it were. Obviously, they don't gel with most Class A's, but I have found myself, on a couple of occasions, speeding out of my nut at 3 in the morning, playing air guitar (standing in my living room, with my eyes closed. Alone)to Time or what-have-you.

No applause is nesessary. Thank you.

Cheers,

Mark

Re: Floyd and Drugs

I would just like to add that "NO! You don't need weed or grass to get whacked up anyways. Just plain ol' whiskey would do. My bro freaked out when he was smashed with a litre of whiskey in him and was listening to 'Interstellar Overdrive' and the ending just about finished him !! Yeah, the image does seem to be there about Floyd and drugs being hand in hand. Even my cousin says that you HAVE to bee doin' drugs to make that kinda music though I STRONGLY disagree.

Re: Floyd and Drugs

You really don't need drugs to get the "Pink Floyd Experience"--if you're in the right state of mind, Pink Floyd IS the drug!

At its extreme: what happens when you add DSotM, a bad illness, and severe sleep deprivation (and no drugs other than Sudafed)? "THE COLOURS, MAN, THE COLOURS!" I'm not kidding, either. I've been trying with Winamp Visualisations to reproduce what I saw, but I've never seen anything like it again.

All you have to do is lie down, and relax yourself into the right state of mind. You may not get anything as vivid as what happened to me that one time, but believe me--the results are worth it!
