Re: List yer equipment... you know you want to

I just picked up a Smokey Amp off Ebay for $25. (new) It is the size of a pack of cigarettes, in fact, the outer cover IS a used cigarette pack. Uses a 9V battery, just plug in, turn up the volume and rock out.
Amazing output for such a small amp. It can also be plugged into a larger speaker cabinet for greater effect.

At full volume, it gives perfect distortion for power chords.

Great for practice, and for guys who can't afford a full size amp.

Just plug in, put it in your pocket, and walk around with your guitar, driving your neighbors nuts.

Re: List yer equipment... you know you want to

since last time I've bought a brand new synth, a Virus TI polar... maybe not very floyd-ish but highy psycadelic... anyway...

I was thinking about the Voodoo Lab Preamp.. Has anyone here ever played it? what are your comments?... Or do you have any other suggestions about good preamps?

Re: List yer equipment... you know you want to

I've gotten three new guitars since I've been gone.

1. Epiphone LP JR. Black. One humbucking pickup in the back, one-piece bridge. I stuck an old Dimarzio Super Distortion in the back, replaced the stop tailpiece with a neat, heavy new one with in-built saddles, and (of course) plastered it with some stickers. Named 'Lacey' because Lacey Conner (singer from Nocturne) is on the front of the guitar - twice. And Christ, this guitar sounds *hot*. That Super Distortion pickup maxes out my Super Reverb just a little *too* much. Awesome guitar, though.

2. Jay Turser SG copy. Creme with white pickguard, and Bigsby vibrato system. Bought this lovely thing for $350 new, then added Grover tuners. Stock covered humbuckers sounded a little dull, so I took the stock pickup out of the Epi LP JR (above) and stuck it in the back position, and left the front pickup stock. Let me tell you - I love this damn guitar. The stock pickup in the LP JR. is nothing to sneeze at... it overdrives my Super Reverb just perfectly. Having a slightly less hot covered pickup in the front is great for rhythms. The action is perfect. This is my main guitar. I can't say enough about it.

and
3. Yamaha SC-300T. Pearl white, white pickguard. Bought it for $100 at the flea market last Sunday. Strat-like setup, three single coils. Has an awesome offset body, looks a little like a Mosrite. It's completely stock right now... I plan to add a Seymour Duncan humbucker in the back. The stock single-coils are a bit thin-sounding.

And a TEAC reel-to-reel tape recorder. I love this damn thing.

Re: List yer equipment... you know you want to

I bought a mandolin!

The first time I tried to play it I found it a bit frustrating since the fretboard is so very narrow (I'm used to my Spanish guitar...) but yesterday I tried again improvising things and stuff and I enjoyed more. Now I've got to learn the chord shapes for its tuning and play proper songs.

Re: List yer equipment... you know you want to

I also bought a new pedal yesterday. It is a chorus/flanger one (Ibanez CF7). I'm getting ready for the upcoming recording of my first solo record!

Should be interesting. Since the thing is tuned inverse of the EADG strings on a guitar, the shapes should be mirror image. At least some minors will be the same.

Re: List yer equipment... you know you want to

Yesterday I picked up my strat, which has gotten a setup and new pickups (vintage hot fralins). Before i could try it, i went to see a guy who was selling an amp. Fell in love with my guitar (even more) and the amp was great.
So im a happy owner of a Rivera Quiana 212 50 watt, which over here, cost around 3300 euros new... My search for amp has ended, and im so glad. I got it 2 days before my birthday!

Yes it is. In fact I bought the mandolin not to play it solo or anything like that. In the record I'm going to make there will be several acoustic passages with arpeggios in the Spanish guitar. I want to play mandolin along with those arpeggios to create a richer (expanded) acoustic spectrum. I have always loved those type of things
