What PF Album should I get next?

About a month ago I got DSTOM, and I love it, and a couple weeks later I got Wish you were Here, and I love that even more. I've been doing some research and I've narrowed it down to 4 albums:

- Meddle
- The Wall
- Animals
- The Division Bell

Which one do you think I should get?? I'm having trouble deciding. I guess it'll eventually come down to whichever one's cheaper, which automatically omits 'The Wall', sadly. Any suggestions?

Even though "The Wall" is considered my many to be PF's "Masterpiece", most on here will agree that "Animals" is better musically. Get Animals.

You really should get the Wall next. But if it comes down to what's cheaper, go for Meddle.

Meddle is the best if you've just heard DSOTM and WYWH it has similar vibes and is the album that lead to the creation of those 2. The Wall is and excellent album but I hated it after hearing DSOTM simply because it is such a change same with The Division Bell (btw I now LOVE both those albums). The only weak album I think out of that list is Animals which dosen't grab me like the othewrs do.

I ended up springing for the wall, due to the lack of animals and division bell being on the shelves. I've listened to all of Disc 1 and most of Disc 2 (not tracks 2,3,4,5,9,10,11 on disc 2) and my opinion is alternating between 'wow this is the best album ever' and 'holy crap what a waste of money'. A bit extreme, I know, but is this one of those albums that really grows on you??

It's quite unconventional.... not many real songs on here... that's what concerns me.

Yeah, most Floyd albums are that way, the "grows on ya like fungus" thing. At least until you get used to the sound...

Good luck with The Wall! It's truely a masterpiece.

BTW...Welcome to APFFN!

TheRat,

You might just want to go ahead and spring for Echoes: The Best Of Pink Floyd. Adavntage being you'll get to hear a selection of every PF period and would help you decide which direction you'd want to go next.
