Problem I've been having

Sometime last December, a hole formed in my bass drum head. It was the original Pearl one that came with my kit that I had got about a year ago, so I figured it was just wear and tear. I got a new Remo Ambassador head to replace the old Pearl one. But about mid-way through January, I busted another hole in it. So now I'm on my 2nd Remo head. Another hole a few days ago. Does anyone know if these Remo Ambassador heads are faulty or something? I've got the same series of heads on my toms, and they seem to be doing fine.

Re: Problem I've been having

It's the playing head, right?

Possibly, you might be hitting the bass drum pedal too hard, but an Ambassador should survive that for a little while. I, too, have got a Remo Ambassador bass drum head, and it's been doing OK for about a year now.

Otherwise... I have no idea.

I do have a similiar problem... I've nearly always played the same series of cymbal (Sabian B-series). For some reason, after three years of playing the same styles of music, I started cracking cymbals like mad. I still do, some four years later. I can't find an explanation for it, but I'm willing to settle.
