I don't have any information for you, but I think this topic is in the wrong forum. Possible it should be in the "After Syd Barrett" forum. Just a thought. Or several of them.

It's all good, it's cool to be a novice - you've got plenty of Floyd to look into!

I'll move this to the "After Syd Barret" section.

If you don't already own it, buy either Crazy Diamond, a book about Syd Barrett, or Pink Floyd, through the eyes of..., a book containing lots of articles and reviews, nice, nasty or otherwise.

These should be a good starting point as an introduction to something other than just the (readily available) music of The Floyd.

Oh yeah- buy everything up to (and including) The Final Cut (1983).

Cheers,

Mark

Fixx, I would also suggest Saucerful of Secrets: The Pink Floyd Oddessey by Nicholas Shaffner.

i know that you can buy "la vallee" from amazon for $26.99 on VHS. i hear it sucks like "more" though. but if you only want it for the pink floyd soundtrack then i guess it wouldn't be a total waste of money.

NNJ: Nick Schaffner's book is a very good and informative book. I would merely suggest that you look into other bios as well. It seems to focus on Syd too much and is (in my opinion) biased against Waters.

OBC is in kinda the same boat as "More" (unless you're talking about the movies, I've seen neither, but I heard they're the most boring pieces of crap...but enough of that...) but the soundtracks, I mean, they suffer from the whole "This doesn't sound a f***ing thing like Pink Floyd" syndrome...at the time, anyway, I guess, that was the reaction...I think once you hit track 3, "Burning Bridges" I think it's called, right through the rest of the album except for that godawful last tune, has got the whole lush, full Floyd sound to it. It's better than "More", anyway...
