Why? Why must people insist on wild, crazy tangents? I'm starting to believe the people on this forum are the only Pink Floyd fans with literally any sense. Anyways, here goes. My best friend married this girl. Her father happens to be the president of the local arena. It's not a big arena, and it has a dirt floor (for rodeos. the usual form of entertainment around here...). My buddy calls me up today with this story... Pokey says: you are about to crap your depends Brian says: I am? Pokey says: robyn's dad is president of the Civitan's and they said they were pretty optomistic about getting a certain group to perform at the Crossroads Arena Brian says: what group? Brian says: the D? Brian says: Jet? Pokey says: the PF Brian says: not going to happen, sir Brian says: PF is done, dude Brian says: maybe he meant the PF laser light show Pokey says: Not according to the Crossroads Arena director Pokey says: Maybe, but he just said the band Brian says: well, how did you come across this information? Pokey says: the director was the guest speaker at the Civitan's and Robyn's dad is president. Brian says: director of what? What is the Civitan's, and what is Robyn's dad the president of? Pokey says: The Civitan's is an organization that does community work and sponsor area events. Pokey says: director of Arena Brian says: but the fact of the matter is, floyd is done and done Brian says: their last concert had 450,000 people with tickets costing $200 each (I believe) Brian says: they're never having another concert, and if they DID, it wouldn't be a world tour so thorough that they played places like corinth Brian says: it would be more like a last-chance-to-see-us-live-if-you-want-to-pay-$600-per-ticket-and-fly-to-England event Pokey says: All he said was that they were in the "talks" as far as coming to agreements. Brian says: Well, if you talk to him again, tell him it's never, ever going to happen Brian says: if serious talks about Pink Floyd were really going on, the huge fan-base would know about it by now Pokey says: I'll try and get you an autograph Brian says: but the likelyhood that they'll even play another concert is 1 out of a million, or worse Pokey says: so you're telling me there's a chance Pokey says: anything is possible, the Rock was in Selmer today. (That last bit was in reference to that new "Walking Tall" movie. It's about our home-town, and is almost totally fabricated. The 'true' story it's based on is far from what the film shows.) And to top it off, he didn't realize that this Arena can seat 15,000 people while Memphis is only 1 hour away, with 3 arenas that can hold at least 150,000 people. Bottom line, why must people even try to talk like that? When he told me, I wasn't excited for even a second. I wasn't fooled for the slightest inkling of a moment. I just knew. But oh, if it were true.

I wish it were true too... I can't believe that guy would go on about it even though it was so obviously false.

Just as a mod and a regular user.. can we please try and place posts like these in places where the "PF are playing a concert/doing a new album" has already been done. We've had soooo many of these threads. I'm sure it's not difficult to find them.. Meanwhile, this doesn't really belong here so I shall redirect it t general PF discussion.. Other than that.. it is pretty stupid when people say things like that. I just say "meh, I'll believe it when I see it" and move on cheers Lej
