Dredg

Has anybody heard of this band? I have just bought their latest CD (El Cielo) and must admit i am impressed. I really like the unique sound these guys create, very good when you want to change things up. Does anyone have any coments on them?

Hey. Looks like no one around here really knows Dredg. I recently picked up "Leitmotif" based on some recommendations, and just gave it the first listen. I haven't broken it in yet, of course, but I can tell this is a quality album. Unique and original...and just good.

I saw them open for the Deftones, and they were great.

Yeah, I've been pretty glued to "Leitmotif" the last few days now. Is "El Cielo" good? Are there any other releases of theirs worth checking out? With x-mas coming up, I need some good stuff on my wish list.

Well, after being obsessed by "Leitmotif," I was compelled to get their second and latest release, "El Cielo". I must say...very stunning! It's amazing how mature these guys have gotten with just two releases.

"El Cielo" is better than "Leitmotif", of course. It's just brilliant...some of the most original music I've heard in a long time. To put this in a genre, I'd call Dredg a progressive rock band without influences. Amazing!

Re: Dredg

Alright, well they recently released a new album, "Catch Without Arms". It's quite different than their previous two releases; it seems much harder. They have really shown growth. I think the biggest improvements came from the vocalist...he had a great voice, but it would get a touch monotonous, like he wasn't challenging himself. I think he's really stepped it up this time. Also, the lyrics are quite good. I think this would be a good starter for anyone wanting to get into them; it seems more accessable than their earlier work, but it's still very creative and unique. This is, without a doubt, their best effort to date. I highly recommend anyone with a taste for good music and a tolerance for hard rock (well, I know there are some that may see harder music as harsh).

I'm also going to be seeing them the 27th! I've heard that they are very good live...I'm really excited.

Re: Dredg

If it's good stuff you should give them the few cents they get by you buying a copy of their album. Bearshare is a great way to check an artist out before buying anything. There's no point in watching MTV or listening to the radio to get to know them so I believe downloading is a great way to find new and good music.
