I love the guitars from "Thermal And A Quarter" (it's a damn good local band we have here). I mean it's pretty hard okay...like the man said "Best guitar solo of all time...??" That's a bit tooo hard.

EC's work on the live "Crossroads" while with Cream is pretty amazing. And Lynard Skynard's "Freebird."

You mean Lynyrd Skynyrd. Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd, or something like that.

Gotta be something by Jeff Beck...if anyone here has heard his work on "Amused to Death" you'll know what I'm talking about. Some of the stuff in his thirty year career is REALLY powerfull.

albatros...I agree some of Dave Navaro's stuff in Janes is very good...'specially Three Days.

Da_Floyd_Fan...is that band "phoenix" available everywhere??

"Stairway to Heaven" is...eh. To me, it sounds like just another standard guitar solo (no offense Jimmy Page).

eug'axe,

Stairway to Heaven and Freebird alike MUST be ranked as guitar solo standards. Following closely behind them would, of course, be Comfortably Numb.

I mean don't get me wrong, "Stairway to Heaven" is a great song (not my favorite Zep tune, that would be "No Quarter" or "Ten Years Gone") but the solo, in my opinion, is yet another solo. But it still remains true, in my oh-so humble opinion, that Jimmy Page is a legendary guitar player.
