Yes, they all did their own little songs.
They just didn't write them, at first.

Deep Purple solos are quite nice...
"Burn"
"Stormbringer"
"Highway Star"

just to name a few of them!

I hate guitar solos. It's essentially masterbation on stage without the mess. Yes, I know that makees me weird. That said:

1. Rammstein "Rammstein" - Short and To the Point
2. Rage Against the Machine "Bullet in the Head" - Tom Morello can do amazing stuff with the right equipment
3. Nine Inch Nails "The Fragile" - In context of the song it's perfect.

Best Bass: Not a lot of solos I can think of, so: Best Bass Riff: Weezer "Only in Dreams"

Best Drum: Again, not quite a solo, but: Tool "The Grudge"

I can't do it! I'm a guitarist for over half my life and I could list for days...here's the finalists:

David Gilmour - Comfortably Numb
Edward Van Halen - Hot for Teacher
Steve Vai - Juice
Eric Johnson - Lonely in the Night
Steve Vai - Big Trouble

For me, the supreme guitar "solo" is Paul Gilbert's cover of Hendrix's "Midnight". It just knocks me out.

Best DG---Comfynumb, of course. How many times have you heard that?

Best Floyd-related--My buddy TIM RENWICK on Another Brick...(Pulse Video)

Just kidding, I don't know Tim, but Dave and Syd are old school chums of his.
