The Final Cut

I have just brought The Final Cut (for those of you who don't have it, it is half price in HMV/Virgin due to the imminent release of the remaster). Having had just a general listen so far is it just me or is the album really quiet? I thought WYWH was quiet but I'm having real problems just hearing the words on some parts even the guitars seem flat on The Final Cut. Was wondering if this is normal or if theres something up with my copy (but as it's CD I can't see how it would)?

The volume is set at the same level as i listen to all my music which isn't massively loud but dose the job well yet the Final Cut is barely audable.

You may have been hosed.

The volume level of my copy of TFC (1st CD issue) sounds fine.

This poem reminds me of "The Gunners Dream".

The Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner

"From my Mother's sleep I fell into the state,
and I hunched in it's belly till my wet fur froze.
Six miles from earth,
loosed from it's dream of life,
I woke to black flak and the Nightmare Fighter.
When I died, they washed me out of the turret with a hose.

Studying that poem gave ninth grade English a creepy edge.

You're right, I always thought that TFC was quiet. It's the same way on the CD, cassette, and LP copies I have.

Dave plays all the electric bits, Rog and Andy Bown handle the acoustic parts.

Both issues are re-mastered. I haven't heard the new one, but the original issue sounds perfect.
